Typically how far in advance should I order the BM dresses?

We ordered ours about 8 months in advance, but they only took 4 months to come in.

I was told about four months in advance but
I ordered mine at the end of April and I was told they will be in by August and my wedding is in October. If you're the type that doesn't like to wait till the last minute I would do them as soon as possible.
