Re: ordering gowns online
I have heard both of them are good. I used houseofbrides.com and I also heard that bridesave.com is good.
I'm using a dressmaker in Coram for the alterations on my gown. My BM are using their own, as they are all OOT.

gownfind.com Phyllis is wonderful and I ordered my dress, my BM's dresses and my MOB dresses from her. She saved me a ton of money!!! She works out of her house in Northport so she can do the measurements and alterations!!I highly recommend her!!!

Re: ordering gowns online
I used netbride.com, and got my dress way sooner than anticipated. I ordered my dress in early/mid October and got it in mid December. I paid an extra $50-75 for rush delivery, but I didn't even need it!
My dress is Watters and Watters, which cost $1400 at a bridal shop. I bought it through netbride.com for less than $800 w/ everything included, e.g., tax, shipping, etc. I looks like it's in perfect condition.... though we'll see what my mom says (she hasn't seen it yet, as I live out of state).
As for alterations, my aunt is doing them for me.... For a while I thought I would have to find a seamstress on my own, which was a pain b/c a lot of them work exclusively w/ bridal salons. BUT, there are independent dress makers out there who will be willing to alter your dress for a good price!

I got mine BP dresses from netbride and had a great experience with them. I got a quote from RKBridal and netbride beat it.

Re: ordering gowns online
i wouldnt do it online just because of my body type .. i NEED to try on everything. plus it kind of ruins the experience i think if you buy one and then its not the right one you have to go through the hassle of sending it back and then finding a new one.. just my opinion

My girls and I went to Bridal shops to pick the dress out. Than I contacted netbride with the 'make and model' number.
ETA: Mine were $100 less than in Macy's.
