Ordering my dress

Ordering my dress

I seem to hear alot of problems that brides have with waiting for their dress till the last few days. I am thinking - why dont I just tell them that my wedding date is 1 or 2 weeks earlier than the true date? I think it might save me some stress. Any thoughts?

That's what I did when I ordered it. Fortunately, my dress came in more than 3 months before my faux date. I was most fortunate and had a great shop (Bridal Suite of Bayshore)!

The only draw back is that most shops have a hold over charge for each date that they have to hold your dress after the scheduled pick update. At my shop, it was a dollar a day (which they ended up not charging)....well worth the price when you consider the peace of mind.

However, most of them will expect this. Don't be surprised if they ask you more than once if that is your real date. :o)

Patchogue Bridal ordered my dress in February, it is coming in July, and my wedding is August 2001 - no extra charge. Something to think about.

Thanks for all the feedback... Question: Can they actually charge you as a rush order if you order it far in advance and whatever goes wrong is not your doing?
