Where do you get the best deals for Earth's Best and Gerber Harvest? How much is a good price to pay per jar? Where do you get coupons?
I'm not quite there yet with fruits and veggies, but we'll probably try after she has rice, oatmeal and barley for a few days each.
I also want to make it at home, but I'm sure the jarred will be convenient sometimes, so I'd like to stock up.

Re: Organic Jarred baby food
I haven't seen too many sales for the organic jars... As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever seen Earth's Best advertised. I did get something at the Expo the other night from them but I haven't looked at it.
How's Lyla doing with her cereal??
Sean's on day 2 of rice cereal and he's loving it! As per our ped., we're giving him 4 days in a row of rice, then oatmeal, then barley, then mixed. On to fruit!! 4 days each of applesauce, bananas, peaches and pears!! I'm so excited to see his reactions to the different textures and flavors! (BTW, I bought Gerber stage 1 for him)...

You can register at Gerber and they send you coupons.

Thank Karen, I'll try Gerber. I just went to Earth's best.com and you can call them for coupons too. And, there's a link to some value site that you can print coupons for your grocery store. They also sell there products on their site. If you buy 12 jars it's $.62, but you have to pay for shipping.
Kathi, Lyla is on day 3 of rice, so I'm glad to know that we're on the same schedule! She'll be 5 months tomorrow, so I decided to start. We just saw her Ped today. She's 14 lbs, 14 oz. and she had her 2nd round of shots.
The Dr. recommends veggies before fruit. So, I guess I'll do the yellow ones first. But, before that it's the same as what you're doing-4 days of rice, 4 days of oatmeal, 4 days of barley then mixed. I am dying to give her bananas though, so I might have to sneak it in!
How old is Sean now? How often and how much are you feeding him? I only gave Lyla 1-2 tbsp at dinner time so far. Are you mixing it with breast milk, water, or formula? I am using bm, I guess that's why she loves it!
She's so cute, today I went and made another tablespoon of it b/c she kept eating her hand that was covered in cereal, but I had none left in the bowl. I was expecting her to hate it (she is very fussy usually), so I'm very happy that it's going okay.
Are you making any at home? It sounds pretty easy, but haven't tried yet.

Re: Organic Jarred baby food
Sean will be 4 months on Friday (he's 18 pounds). Here's his approx. feeding schedule - he really is so good!!
7 am - 7 oz bottle 10:30 am - 7 oz and 1T rice w/ 3T formula 2:00 - 7 oz bottle 4:30 - 7 oz and 1T rice w/ 3T formula 7:30 - 7 oz bedtime bottle and SLEEEEEEP
My ped. said fruit first, which I'll do, but I'll make sure I get those veggies in after 16 days of fruit!! Then we'll have fun with all of the varieties!

Go to your local health food store. If they do not have it they will probably order what you want. Then you do not have to pay shipping either. I buy Tender Harvest from the supermarket and Earths Best from the health food store. I used to get it from the one on the corner of Hillside Ave. and Mineola Blvd. in Williston Park. I think that is near you. They stopped ordering it since it was not popular, but they offered to order me what I wanted. I think I paid .50/Stage 1, .65/Stage 2 and .99/Stage 3 for Earths Best. Tender Harvest (by Gerber) is about .65 jar for Stage 2, but I also use the store coupons from the register printout along with the manufacterer coupons I get in the mail. I think it knocks the price at least in half most times. I also wait for a sale and then stock up. I made most of her food until she refused to eat anything from her baby bowls. It was easy to do and cheaper too. I recommend the book Super Baby Food if you want to make your own. It is an excellent guide to food for newborn thru toddler. It tells you what they can eat each month and how to prepare it.

Re: Organic Jarred baby food
we love EB! went to the expo and got one goody bag that had a jar and some coupons..and a bib. Julianne ate up that jar in a snap!
I dont find it at my local stopnshop or wauldbaums and told the rep at the expo. She made note of it in her book- there were a few other names there too- and told me to speak to the store manager and ask for it.
will see if pathmark or associated carries it. The associated by me is very small and doewsnt double coupons..so I'm stuck.

Not sure where you are but Whole Foods supermarket sells Earth's Best. They're an organic supermarket. The only one I know of is in Manhasset. The corner of Searingtown Rd. & Northern Blvd. The same shopping center where Bed Bath & Beyond & Bennihana are.

Re: Organic Jarred baby food
If you get a chance, it'd be great if you can check. A health food store in Queens had the stage 1 jars for $.49. Can you also check the cereals (rice, barley, oatmeal) by Earth's Best, or any other organic brand?
Thanks so much!

Re: Organic Jarred baby food
NIHA- No problem I don't mind checking. I'm off for a few days though. I'm on a bit of a restricted activity right now. I saw coupons in baby magazines. I know American Baby was one of them. Have you check in there for them? On the web site they have the store locator, you can try that. I'll let ya know as soon as I am able to check for you.

Re: Organic Jarred baby food - NIHA
I was able to go to Whole Foods today. They had the jars for 65 cents & the cereal for 2.29. It didn't look like they were having any specials, that was the price on the shelf. I guess your better off at the health food store.
