Julia Roberts is expecting twins with husband Danny Moder, PEOPLE has learned. She is due to give birth early next year, according to her spokeswoman, Marcy Engelman.
Next week Roberts will head to Italy to begin shooting 'Ocean's 12,' the sequel to 2000's 'Ocean's 11,' with returning costars George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt.
Roberts, 36, and Moder, 35, have kept a decidedly low profile ever since tying the knot on July 4, 2002, at her 82-acre ranch in Taos, N.Mex. The couple have stayed away from the red carpet, while splitting private time between their homes in Taos, Venice, Calif., and New York City.
Tabloids, meanwhile, have continued to speculate about problems in their marriage. But in a PEOPLE cover story on their one-year anniversary last July, a source close to the couple rebuffed the talk of trouble, saying, 'They are a very happy, peaceful and private couple.' Added Moder's father, Michael: 'They're doing fine.'
Roberts had plans to start a family with Moder 'in due course,' she said in 2002. 'It'll be great.' Twins, it turns out, run in Roberts' family: Her great grandmother and a pair of cousins are matched sets, Engelman said.

in the paper today, the Daily News, it said she was having a boy and a girl .. and that she conceived them by in vitro ..

Just recently, Geana Davis had 2 boys...how can they know if she is due early 2005...even if it was invitro, they would not be able to know

My guess would be that she did IVF and also did PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis). This is when the embryos are genetically analyzed for certain disorders. The sex of the embryos can also be determined this way...

and Pacino & I can't remember her name - bad custody battle, the President .... and didn't the girl from Fraiser just have twins (or did she have a surrogate? Speaking of which, didn't Joan Lunden? Cheryl Tiegs?)

That's sweet! It seems that now a days there are more invitros. But, it is funny how they wrote 'twins runs in the family' It seem like she tried to prove a point that it wasn't invitro. But, if she knows the sexes, it seems like PGD to me!

That's crap. Julia doesn't even know the sexes. And her publicist says the infertility stuff is bull.

That's the one I was thinking of.. . I couldn't palce it though. I didn't knwo about the others, excpet of course the president. . .Oh and Joan London- I beleive it was a surrogotte, but it was twins nonetheless.
