OT Brazilian Wax

OT Brazilian Wax

So I have gotten this done last year once or twice, and got it again last month. I love it, but I have a question.

This time I went to J Sisters in Manhattan since they started it in the US and I heard good things about them. If you have gotten them before, you know it can be embarrassing at first and painful and your mind is just on the pain; however, after I started thinking, I DONT think she was WEARING GLOVES! I don't think the one i went to in Queens last year did either.

Now these are reputable salons, but that cant be sanitary or safe, right?!?!

Has anyone gone to J Sisters before?? Did they wear gloves? If you go anywhere else, isn't it the norm to wear gloves?? I started getting paranoid hahah. I want to get it again next week, but I want to make sure it's done in a sanitary way yaknow?

THANKS!! :)

I go to a very clean and professional salon out here on LI and they don't wear gloves...I never really thought about it because I completely trust the salon...I'm sure some places use gloves and some don't might be a personal preference of the spa consultant

OK that makes me feel a little better. This place is clean and known for their Brazilians. It's just when my I told my sister, she's like that is strange. And her friend who does makeup says the place she works at wears gloves, so I started getting paranoid. hahah Thanks!

I go to Racine's in Islip....Rosie is AMAZING! She DOES wear gloves & works super fast...really isn't bad at aaaall. Takes her less than 10 min for full Brazilian...& I mean FULL I think she was a nurse or something so she is nice and gentle I highly recommend!!

I used to go to J sisters and the girl I used NEVER wore gloves. She did a good job, but it bugged me out a little. THEN, a good friend of mine switch from J Sisters to Arpis Spa in Flushing (Union Tpke area, about 1-2 miles east of St. John's University) and Arpi did my waxing. She's amazing! She wears gloves and her place looks so much cleaner than J Sisters (I know J Sisters is clean, but the building is older, so it's a different feel you know?)
Arpis is also MUCH cheaper than Js and IMO, Arpi does a better job. Shes been doing waxing for 26 years!

I went to Bliss recently and I don't think she had gloves on. She was always spraying stuff on her hands though....i'm guessing an anti-septic spray and on me. She also always used a stick every single application.

I go to Uni-K-Wax which is literally the most sterile waxing place I've ever been to, and I've tried tons in the city. They wear gloves, spray everything down with alcohol including the table, and most importantly, use a fresh pot of wax for every person.

It's on 3rd Ave between 36 adn 37th.
