Other Summer '09 Brides??

Please tell me that there are other Brides out there that are getting married this summer that have not done all that much yet. We got engaged the beginning of December and decided to get married this summer. We just booked the reception hall last night. Now the fun begins. Has anyone had a tough time finding vendors with only 6 months notice?

My wedding is in July and I still haven't booked a few vendors. Honestly, IMO, certain vendors shoul be booked ASAP like, the RH, DJ, Church and gown. But all the other things you can take a little while to shop around and compare if you like. I think 6months is fine, you have time to book everything.

get your photographer! to me, that's the thing that really $ucks to book late. you also need dresses pronto. i'm getting married in july, ordered my gown in october, and have been told that i need to order BM dresses in february. then i would work on flowers, music, and transportation.

I am a summer bride and I have almost all of my major vendors booked except the florist. It is not impossible to plan everything in 6 months but I think you need to be a little more flexible with the vendors you are willing to use. I would book your DJ/Band and the photographer/videographer next. You probably should start looking for dresses as well- Some designers take a really long time to come in. I was told my dress would take 8-12 months to arrive...I ordered it back at the end of June.

Thank you for your help. We have called some called some DJ's and they have our date available which is definitely a relief. We have booked the RH and the ceremony is at the same place. Sounds like we have to focus on the photographer and the dresses. Does anyone have any suggestions on photographers? Not quite sure where to start. What about the bridal showcases? Are they worth going to? A few of the DJ's we called said that they were going to be a the Chateau Brian showcase on Jan 14th? Any thoughts? Thanks again! This seems like a great web-site. Really glad I found it!

showcases can be helpful for finding vendors, mostly those held at your RH, IMO. be careful about who gets their hands on your info, tho, bc mine got spread all over by one of those bridal expos.

here's a thread about photographers that i thought you could use. happy planning!

the only vendor we really have booked is the RH but we did meet with a bunch of vendors around cristmas so now it's the pick a vendor game... i'm going to DIY most of the wedding stuff and dresses are done so all we really need is photog, dj/mc. hair & make up, and limo if we decide to use them

you have time but i would def get the ball rolling

You can definitely do it! I had a family friend get engaged and married in less that 4 months last summer and the wedding was fabuluos! Sometimes I think it is better to have less time so you don't overthink things...I agree though-- get the major vendors booked first and the smaller details will fall into place!
