I just pulled off my acrylics. One of my real nails split in the process a bit. Should I put a little crazy glue on it to hold it together or would that just make it worse?

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
not sure what you should do....i normally use crazy glue when my nails split.....but they're natural and i've never doen acrylic.
but that sounds like it would hurt!!!
good luck!!

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
These are my real nails now. I got all the acrylic off. I have one nail that split and it hurts. I don't want it to get worse so I was thinking of putting a tiny dab of crazy glue but I'm sure its going to burn!!!!

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
mine used to be that thin - unitl one day i said screw this - acryilcs are costing so much and making them thinner....so i deicded to go 'natural' - it took some time for them to thicken but now i am proud to say they are all mine!!
(ps - sometimes they are just thin - i tired every cream., harderner, etc out there - it all just took time!)

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
thanks. I put some crazy glue on that nail and hopefully it will keep it from breaking further. Hope that my nails get stronger from the pre-natal vitamins I am taking.

That does sound painful. You're not the only one with paper thin nails. My nails also become very thin after I have acrylic on them. I just kept filing and using nail hardener for awhile and as the nail grew, they toughened up. Now they're back to normal.

Your hair and nails will go so quickly and be so much stronger from the pre-natals!

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
I hope so. My hair and nails could both use some strengthening.

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
I think maybe I should also buy some nail hardener so that I help them get stronger so the rest of them don't tear on me too.

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
Sue...ouch - next time use acetone to soak the acrylic off.
ETA: maybe not use the acetone - I don't know if it's good to use if you're pregnant...it's kinda fume-y. Besides I see you said you got them all off anyway.
For the split - get a tea bag and cut it at one end and pour out the tea leaves. Then cut (a small nail scissor is good for this) a piece big enough to fit over the break but not covering the entire nail (ie: don't cut it so it reaches the sides of the nail but the top and towards the cuticle is fine) and take tweezers and lay it over the break in the nail. Then put clear nail polish over it. Put a few coats on it. That should seal it until it grows out.

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
Sue...I took my nails off about 2 months ago, and my nails were paper thin. I've been using OPI Nail Envy and I love it! I'm still cutting my nails once they grow a little to have all the 'ruined' nails grow out, but the Nail Envy has helped so much with bending and splitting.
it will take patience but your nails will grow and be strong...just make sure that you eat healthy as well...
whenever I get a break...I put a bandaid on the finger...just so I am conscious not to bang it around...

Re: Ouch!!!!!!!!
Sue, why on earth did you pull them off??? I'm sure they are killing you right now! You should have just trimmed and filed them until all the acrylic grew out
Maybe you can put a bandaid over the split nail to hold it in place. It will probably hurt for several days until the skin starts to re-generate.
