Its proposed fee for a first checked bag would exempt people who belong to elite levels of its frequent flyer programs, those who bought full-fare tickets and those traveling overseas.

Re: Ouch...American to charge for 1st check bag
I'm kinda glad they are doing it because people go overboard with their sh*t and it holds up bag claim

Re: Ouch...American to charge for 1st check bag
I read an article recently that almost every airline is going to be imposing something like this in the next few months. Probably to help offset the cost of fuel. I also read they are slowing the planes down in the air, adding about 8-10 minutes to flights which saves them hundreds in fuel costs.

Jetblue doesn't give away free earphones anymore either...you have to pay and some flights you have to bring your own-they don't even have any....

I was just on jetblue like 2 months ago and they were free... They ask you to put in $1 if you want the 'nice, pleather' ones but everyone just took em and left no money instead LOL

jet blue also recently outsourced their mechanical repairs on planes to el salvador where there are few regulations. doesn't THAT make you feel safe???
