So I go for a normal medical facial tonight and I have a new woman b/c the lady I usually go to is no longer there....so she's very nice and has an accent that's a little hard to understand, but I make out pretty much what she is saying.....SO she does my facial and usually at the end of it after the painful extractions they use this suction cup kind of thing....so she turns this machine on (my eyes are closed) & I think it's the suction thingy and all of sudden it's like my face is being sandpapered.....so I let it go b/c I'm like OH maybe this is something new (like an IDIOT but I didn't know!!)...so she finishes and I'm ilke 'ummmm what exactly does that do'...and she was like 'that was your micodermabrasion sweety....' & So I just say 'Oh' but I must have said it weird so she's like 'you were suppose to get one right', so I say 'no but hey if it's gonna make my skin nicer, it's fine'...so I go to pay she still just charged me for a regular facial!!!!! Microdermabrasion is A LOT more expensive...I'm so thrilled lol! HOWEVER right now my face feels like it's on fire but it's nice and soft!!!
ETA: She told me NOT to use proactiv
Re: Proactiv: I don't know much more then she said it dries out your face then makes your skin overcompensate...if it works for you, keep using it! It was making my skin really dry, so I asked her....it didn't make my skin worse but didn't make it change really. I guess it depends on the type of skin you have!!

Re: Ouch....microdermabrasion
I've never had it done at a spa, but I have the Mary Kay Microderabrasion stuff and do it every other week and it makes SUCH a difference! My skin is soooo smoothe afterwards. And its especially great when you tan a lot...it gets rid of all that dead skin. **shhhhh** I even got FH into using it. He has horrible skin and he's loving this stuff!
Thats so awesome that you got it done for free!!!! By tomorrow the pain should be gone and you'll be glowing

That's my issue.....I have a lot of underneath bumping, I break out from stress plus my skin gets so oily so easily...so this really got a lot of my dead skins out....my skin even though burning right now, feels so much cleaner!

That is awesome!
I love microderm--my dermatologist had recommended it to me years ago since I break-out a lot. It smoothes your skin and helps get rid of any dark spots...your skin feels so soft and smooth after and you glow. I now also do the at-home microderm about once a week, which works well too.

She said it dries out your skin bad and then overcompensates your skin...she said to use cetaphil. I might try swtiching since proactiv wasn't making my skin any better or any worse

Re: Ouch....microdermabrasion
that's awesome you got a free Microdermabrasion treatment!! I want to give it a try. I've had it done at T.Carltons and it was great but the facial I had there was done by hand not machine which is supposed to be stronger. Recently I've had such bad acne, also from grad school stress and I've taking Solodyn(antibiotic) and Ziana(topical gel) but I use Cetaphil to wash my face. It's very gentle. That's what my dermatologist recommended.

Most dermatologists will tell you to stop using Proactive.
