Our amazing pets

Okay, another post inspired me for this....

What are some things that your pet has gotten themselves into that you wonder either how in the world they did that or that you are amazed they survived?

Chewed right through the cable modem wire while it was plugged in. Maybe that is why he had ONE random long white hair on his face and the rest of him was all black.

My little boy cat pulled a thick glass serving platter down on top of him. He was only 5 months old at the time. It was the morning after Christmas and he jumped up on the counter b/c he heard birds at the window. It woke us up because it sounded like bricks were being thrown through our windows.

Poor little boy got about 13 stitches down his leg : (

Re: Our amazing pets

when Tink was a tiny tiny pup we brought her to a park... we put her down & in 2 seoconds she was running SOOOO fast.... we were following her.... but it was too late... she ran right off the edge (the park was raised alittle.. hard to explain ) and she fell like 4 feet onto the concrete.. i was screaming.. FH jumped down and picked her up...
as i reached the edge i thought i was going to look down at a dead puppy (keep in mind she was like 2 lbs)
but she was fine! she just shook it off!!!

it was like a bad cartoon... she didnt even SLOW down when she reached the edge... it was kinda funny to see looking back on it

WOW! I love hearing about our little trouble makers!!!

My dalmatian was only like 6 months old when she ate an entire Pointsetta plant! She had never chewed or eaten anything she wasnt supposed to until she decided the pointsetta looked appetizing!
She didnt even get sick!

Re: Our amazing pets

Prior to our wedding, I came home to find that Xena had vomitted 18 times. The last 2 times it looked like she vomitted blood. I scooped her up and took her to the hospital.

The vet took some x-rays and asked me I was having a good day and I said no it's been horrible. He said that Xena had cancer of her stomach, intestines and lungs. But all of her blood work was normal and he didn't understand. He wanted me to put her down right then and there. I told him this is my DH's cat and I can't make the decision and that I will take her home, she seemed fine at that point. He wanted me to take her to a specialist in Plainview. So the next day off we went to Plainview. They wanted to open her up and biopsy her lungs, stomach and intestines. DH said no she is 6 lbs and we will not put her through that. We would take her home make her comfy and when it was her time would bring her in and put her down.

Fast foward to this past February (the day before I miscarried), Frankie had stayed home from work we were going to the dr to confirm my pregnancy. Xena again had another vomitting episode. When I came in from work she was meowing this meow that pleaded for help. I wanted to cancel my dr's appointment and take her to the hospital. I was so furious with DH for not taking her to the dr during the day but he was so furious that the vet had said she had cancer and would be dead if a few weeks and almost 2 years later here she was (Not that he wanted her to die but that we were put through all the emotional BS) He insisted that I go to the dr. Well off we went to confirm my pregnancy. Then came home and took her to the hospital. We got the same vet. You would have thought he had seen a ghost. HE was so shocked that she was still alive!!!!!!!!! The spots on her organs have not increased or changed in the 2 years and she is still here happy and healthy.

Re: Our amazing pets

We have an air conditioning in our room that for awhile we had to put towels on the sides so that we could close up the spaces (we now have fixed the AC). Well one night i hear something scratching on the window (mind you this is the second story of the house) and i bug out and jump out of bed and tell my DH that there is a squirrel at the window trying to get in.

So my DH goes over to the window and oh so gentally picks up the blind that is on top of the AC and as he picks it up there is our cat looking back at us tilting his head saying'what are you guys doing up'....mind you my DH grabbed him and almost strangled him getting him back into the window. At one point we had his collar and two front paws and his two back paws were hanging out the window....

Then there was the nice fish we had - you know the ones that swim around a plant and feed off the plant. After we got the cat i put him high up on a shelf above my DH $3000 keyboard. You gussed it- the little bugger got up there and smashed the vase all over the keyboard and we never did see the fish again. The keyboard was ruined....it was a big issue for awhile but now we laugh about it......

Re: Our amazing pets

My maine coon (in my avatar) once snuck downstairs into the basement. He was on the stairs (I was already in the basement) and stopped. Our beagle saw him on the stairs, and knew that he wasn't supposed to be there. She barked and scared him so bad that he literally jumped a foot straight up in the air and fell down the stairs! He wasn't hurt, but it was the funniest thing I'd seen.

I have another cat that is bound and determined to get into our bedroom (we keep the door closed at night). She will sit on the stairs, get up on her hind legs and try to twist the door knob.

My one cat Luke used to toss my hair like salad EVERY night at about 3 am when he was a baby, so we had to lock them out of the room and one would cry and Luke (he can only squeak and you have to listen real close to hear it), I would hear him run from the kitchen and head but the door to open it. Then he'd take a few steps back and throw himself into the door again. We have a magnetic thing to keep our bedroom door shut, no actual doorknob so he'd get in after a while. Little rascal...

Re: Our amazing pets

Golem just started doing something this week that I think is pretty amazing, considering he's only 3 months old! He will open the door to his crate when it's closed all by himself now! He first did it this weekend - he saw his ball in there and decided that he was going in after it - but the door was closed. So what does he do but put his paw through the front of it to pry it open, then held the door open with his mouth while he snakes his other paw in to fully open the door! Now when we say, 'Golem, open the crate' he DOES! truly amazing what our pets are capable of!

Re: Our amazing pets

my cat (layla) pretty much just likes to knock stuff over. only the stuff i really like. but this one time i had bought her a sweater. and i thought it would look really cute on her.

so FH helped me put her paws thru the front and then there were these elastic things that go around her back legs, so she can't get out of it. she was wearing it fine and dandy and then she just walked out of the room.

she returned about 30 seconds later without the sweater on! the weirdest part was we could not find the sweater ANYWHERE! it finally ended up showing up the next day.

i still have no idea how she managed that one.
