Our china!
OMG I can't believe I never posted about this!
FH and I have brand new BEAUTIFUl and expensive formal china..and we didn't pay a dime!
As horrible as this sounds... we got it froma dead man and a crazy woman-his aunt and uncle. Uncle just died and his aunt is in the advanced stages of Alzheimers so we had to put the house up for sale to cover all the leans and mortgages on it-out the wazoo. Its in Glen Cove and worth about 1.5 million dollars and his parents after all is said and done, might end up with 50,000 for his aun't care...thats a WHOLE other story. And before anyone goes OMG how could we...lets just say if they ahdn't squandered the trust set aside for my FH and his sister by their grandparents (his aunt was in charge of it) Fh and I would now have 250 thousand dollars in our account with which to buy a house...
Anyway since Fh's folks didnt want the estate sale to get everything, they had FH and I move the furniture his mom wanted that belonged to her mother, etc. In the process we found their china and his mom said we should have it. It looks almost exactly like what we had on our registry (though this is MUCH nicer and far more expensive) and its a full 12 piece setting. It has a very narrow old edge around each plate with a shiny platinum band around the middle of the plates. The serving utensils are real silver and have to be polished but beautiful. Just needed to share. We may not get a house but at least we get dishes!
They look like this but with that thin gold gilt edging around the outside.
