our experience with tux places ...

just wanted to share our experience of looking for tuxes today. based on LIW suggestions we set out to Bonaventure and Elite tuxedos (we went in a couple of other places earlier this week, but today was 'try on' day).

well in a nutshell, bonaventure was NOT a pleasant experience. service was VERY inattentive and we found the layout of the store extremely inconvenient for browsing their collection. FH did try on some stuff but we really didn't get much out of it since the service was lacking. needless to say, we left rather unhappy.

next we went to Elite Tuxedo (on Old Ctry Rd across from Fortunoff) and received the most unbelievable service. FH spent about 45 min trying on different combinations of jackets, vests, etc. and the salesman was super helpful, patient, and knowledgeable.

hope this helps some of you! (oh yeah, we've decided to go with Elite!)

just wanted to add that they gave us a very decent price for our 2 ringbearers ($55 less than the others)!

Oh WOW, I just want to pipe in My experience at those 2 places, since I went to both on recommendations here and had a slightly different experience than Miro.

We found Boneventure WONDERFUL to work with. They were extremely attentive, and even ordered a sample of a jacket they didnt have in stock, just so FH could TRY it on, w/no guarantee that we would rent from them.
They had it within a few days. They were wonderful and b/c of the great customer service, we will use them. They let us take all sorts of pics, and were very patient when FH and I started arguing over what he should wear

Elite: Great experience also. Very attentive, took a lot of time w/us. Only thing is they wouldn't order the sample, so that put Boneventure over them. But really, the service other than that was WONDERFUL.

I think w/any of these places, you're good to go.

Miro, I wonder if that was a bad day?
We've gone 2 times now, both excellent.
I guess it really all depends, huh. . .
In any case, I'm glad you had a great experience at Elite. They were really great

Is either store open on Sunday? FH works on Saturday, and I am trying to avoid having to take another day off

liz, you're probably totally right about it being a bad day for bonaventure! after reading all the rave reviews here i expected to be thrilled when i went there. as we all know, no vendor will have all positive or negative reviews - vendors are human too :) but based on my experience alone, elite is my vendor of choice!

My FH and I went to Bonaventure this weekend, and although I agree that our salesman seemed a bit distracted, overall I thought it was nice. We found a really nice tux and the prices weren't too bad. I didn't try another other place, so I have nothing to compare it to. Just my $.02

Thanks for the info Kathy. Due to scheduling, we will most likely check out Elite first, then go to Bonaventure if we have time on a wedding planning day.
