at our eparty in 2 weeks is the first 'official' meeting of our families... my mom has met his family but my dad and brother haven't. I'm really nervous. My family embarasses me a lot (not by acting silly, but my brother being crude and insensitive and my mom getting downright irritating)
theyre my family and i love them but i get annoyed with them a lot so i'm just nervous for them to meet the entire extended family of FH and its my eparty so i want to enjoy myself not feel self conscious.
i guess i'm just venting.

OMG- you are totally not alone. We have been together for 6 years and have been friends since we were 8. His parents are a little older and calmer. My parents are younger and obnoxious. My Dad has only met his parents once and that was at a wake. Our Mom's knew eachother when we were younger but have only seen eachother 2 or 3 times in the past 6 years.
We always talk about how the wedding is going to make his family hate my family because some of my family members (especially my mom) are SO obnoxious! You are def not alone.

I was really nervous for the parents to meet. Mostly because the dad's personalities are very different. We planned a dinner for 2 weeks before the EP to break the ice. This way I didn't have to pay so much attention to them during the EP.
Some of my extended family can be really opinionated so I know how you feel...
You have to make sure you have a good time because you only get one EP!! Can you talk to your mom or brother before the party??

You know what? It may not be so bad. I mean, sometimes I cringe at what FH's Mom says half the time in front of my Parents' but overall they get along and like eachother. It may not be the crisis that you imagine- it may go okay.

don't worry it will be OK. I was so nervous when my parents were meeting his parents for the first time. I was worried about them hating one another or being rude, but it went fine and everyone got along. It will be ok.

I am nervous about this day too! My immediate family knows his immediate family but that is the extent of it. Well I think my mom met some of his family at his mothers wake 3 years ago but that was it. I wsa actually just wondering about this the other day when I was at a block party with his family and seeing how crazy they can be. Both of our families love each of us, but we will see how they feel about each other....

yea i'm probably worrying too much.. my mom will be on crutches because she's having surgery on her foot this week so I can see her playing the pity card, repeating herself and then my dad getting annoyed at her and everything getting real awkward. lol. I'll just drink
