My FH and I went Saturday to our First Open house!!! We were so like SHY we did not know WHAT TO DO OR ASK!!!!
House was GREAT! (a little too pricey for us.. but we want to start having experience...)
Now we are ready to start doing more Open houses!!!!!!!
Any suggestion girls? Should we ask something??? Should we know something before we go?
Thanks!

you should really sit down and discuss your budget and figure out how much you can spend or are willing to spend on your next home.
you should always check out comparable for the surrounding areas to make sure that the house you're looking at is priced accordingly..
also, make sure to check when the boiler was last replaced, leaks in the roof/ceilings, make sure sure the sinks and toilets run, etc..
good luck!

i agree with the above...
also check to see how long the house has been on the market...and what it was priced for before
also don't forget to factor in taxes and insurance when you calculating your budget!
good luck!

congrats! That's so exciting!! It couldn't hurt to check up on the schools near the house too, if you're planning on having children.

also, get pre-appoved. and see how much the bank will give you to buy a house. Then that way you can narrow down neighborhood, size, price range

we are not in the market to buy a house now, but we still go to all the open houses that we see just to get out and see what condition some of these houses are in. good to get an idea of what is out there!

Congrats!!!
As for Insurance, I can tell you that we pay about $70 per month for our homeowners insurance. Not sure if that is average, but wanted to give you an idea.

it depends on the house and the neighborhood. My friend lives around the corner from me. Her house is wayyy bigger than mine and would cost more to replace. Her ins is about 2 grand a year. I shopped around and got a crazy deal and mine is about 900 a year.

This sounds silly but flush the toilets make sure that that plumbing is ok. If it inst or there is low water pressure run. That could be a very costly thing to fix!

I agree with the ladies above. Definitely figure out what your budget is. Also, me and FH are looking and have found www.msli.com to be a very helpful site.
