Our Honeymoon w/ PICS!
OK. So here's a quick review of our honeymoon & I've attached a few pics.
We stayed at the Villa Carolina in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Zihuatanejo is on the Pacific Coast of Mexico about 150 miles North of Acapulco. The town is pretty small and is where they go at the end of the Shawshank Redemption.
If you are looking for beach, sun and PURE relaxation this place is for you.
We stayed for 7 sun-filled, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky days. It was always between 85-90 with a nice breeze on the beach.
The main beach, Playa La Ropa, is perfect. A variety of restaurants line the beach. We ate most of our meals with our feet in the sand and most of the time we were wearing bathing suits & I had a sarong on.
Most of our time was spent at the beach, in the pool, or walking around town shopping. The town has a Municipal Beach where you can charter a fishing boat- they have big game fishing down there (sail fish, Marlin, etc). We took a 29' Panga out for 8 hours. We caught 7 fish and ate 3 of them! The boat captain (it was just Me, John & the Captain) took us fishing and then after we caught the fish we snorkeled. While we were snorkeling the captain made us a snack of cerviche (raw tuna, makeral w/ red onion, lime & chilis- so good). Then he dropped us off at Playa Las Gatas which you can only get to via boat. They have restaurants there that cook & clean your fish for a nominal fee ($10).
The whole Honeymoon with airfare, hotel & spending money (meals, entertainment & gifts) cost about $3500... very affordable I think.
