Our Jack & Jill Bach Party - with Pics!
Neither my FH nor I wanted a bach party, so we opted to celebrate together so our friends could meet before the wedding. (Many of FH's friends live out of state.)
One of my BMs arranged for a wine tour through LIWineTours.com -- and the day couldn't have been better. 14 of us shared a HUGE stretch Hummer and hit 14 wineries before heading home to have a nice BBQ. The package we had included lunch, and the lunch was DELICIOUS. We were expecting boring sandwiches and so-so salads -- but they were really delicious!
We had the best time!
The highlight of the day was going to Macari Vineyards. My friend knew the owner! We got a private, behind-the-scenes tour of his winery and how he makes the wine and we got to taste all of the good stuff, even stuff not even on the menu. We got to taste wine straight out of the barrel -- we tried merlot that will ultimately be blended to make a very special wine that will be a very limited edition (100 cases) dedicated to the owner's grandfather. We also got a taste of a Malbec they won't be releasing until September.
The owner was so nice - he must know my friend pretty well b/c apparently, he takes NO ONE behind the scenes. As a wedding present to my FH and I, he gave us and EVERYONE with us that day a bottle of ice wine (very $$$) to take home. What an awesome guy -- and trust me, their wine was fantastic. I highly recommend stopping there for a tasting or picking up a bottle of any of their wines. The owner was so nice and generous - and I'll be sitting down momentarily to write him a really long thank you!
We just had a fantastic time all around - good friends, good food, and good wine. What more can you ask for? I can't believe our wedding is so close.... what a great pre-wedding celebration!
