Our Lady of Hope Church in Middle Village Queens.... question and mini vent!
Does anyone know the aisle length and width?
We called 2 times to get the information.... the 2nd call being today... I am fed up with their stupidity... and when my mother asked... the girl started hysterical laughing like it was the funniest question in the world! My mother just sat on the phone waiting for her to finish laughing to continue asking her about it! The girl was like 'I don't really know.. it's a STANDARD aisle!' Whatever a standard aisle is!??!?! Does she even know that churches are all built differently and they aren't like a Commerce bank!!! Then she said after mass one day we can bring a tape measure and measure it!!!! DINGBAT!!!!!!!!!! So my mother told her... 'that's ridiculous... you have so many weddings there and it's not like the aisle measurements change so with all those other weddings surely at least one of them had an aisle runner and needed to know the length of the aisle!!!!' Then she said she would ask the custodian and call back later. I'm not holding my breath! Instead I'm asking my trusty fellow brides!

my bm is getting married there 2 weeks after u..let m ask her she might know....shes away till wed but ill let u know as soon as she comes back

I tell ya, the lazy people in this world. I always say, if you want something done right...do it yourself. Otherwise the idot lazy people will screw it up for you. Hope you get something worked out!!

Gina - these people there are the biggest dopes everrrrr!! Although it seems allchurch workers are a bunch of brainless dopes!!! From all the posts and church vents I've read. Just idiots seem to be running the place!! Maybe part of the problem is they hire 15 year olds to work in the rectory offices... and they don't even know their own asss from their elbow!!
I called them months ago for the aisle runner size and something else.... I was just as lost when I got off the phone with them!!
But this one moron in particular... who started cracking up laughing by herself at my mother asking her the length of the aisle... my mom said that she wasn't laughing with her... she just sat there and waited for her to stop laughing so she could continue what she was saying.
Do people know how dumb they are? Or are they so dumb that they live in a bubble? My biggest fear is that this girl will be dumb forever and never know how dumb she is!!

I don't even know if I have a tape measure long enough to measure this aisle. I should drag that moron out by her hair and make her measure it with me so she never forgets the numbers for any future brides getting married there!! FOOLISH!!! heehee. I'm getting joy in calling her all sorts of silly things right now.

Nope! I don't know anyone there. It's my childhood parish. And they just got a new monsenior (that's so not even spelled right haha).... who isn't the swiftest either.
When we called in July to schedule the rehearsal ... he said to call back in September because he has to get 'settled' first. Then he said there are 3 weddings that week and we will all want to be doing a rehearsal. UGH YEA THAT'S WHY WE ARE TRYING TO BOOK IT NOW!! Fool. The day we originally wanted for the rehearsal is unavailable already. :(
But we are going to wait patiently like he asked.

I was having this conversation with someone last night. She was telling me that a couple she knows wants to get married at St Mathias in Ridgewood and the church is 'charging' a ridiculous amount for them to be married AND BOTH the bride and groom were students and parishoners of the church. Can you believe that?

What's SUPER funny about that.........
That's FH parish.. FH father is the deacon there. They probably spoke to him. Deacon John Sands!
I wonder how much it is??!!! I think Hope was about $500.
FH was upset that we are doing it in Hope and not Matthias! Matthias would be nicer for pics!! And the aisle is long (guess it's not a STANDARD one like HOPE must have!!! hahahahahaha!!!!). I think they get brides from all over that want to get married there. What suckss is there's no parking lot. Hope at least has that. But what did Hope do to their railings out front? They look beyond HORRIBLE!!! I want to rip them out whenever i see them!! they have these marble railings and then on the left and right they left the old railings in.. so they have these brown marble thick and kinda gawdy railings sandwiched in between 2 thin black iron railings. It doesn't go and it looks atrocious!! I hope they read this and fix that!! It's super UGLY!!!
My family wanted Hope. Between the ugly railings and stupid people I should have gone with Matthias!!!!

The limo people asked me what the length was!! haha!! My limo company is on LI and the church is in Queens.
I'm probably doing my own aisle runner though and not using the limo runner.

Yea the outside is nothing. And there's NO PARKING there!! I hate that!! But inside is nice. It's hand painted and the ceilings are very very high. Fall bride 2008 got married there... she has pics of the inside in her profile.
Hope looks nothing like that. It's more 80s modern!! haha!

Hahaha!! maybe you calling her got the noodle turning inside her barely there brain! haha!! Now she is sitting there pondering to herself... 'are all aisles created equally?'.....

OMG what idiots.. they should def. have these measurments. When I first met with the deacon at our church he gave us a paper with all the measurments on them. Brides need to know that kind of stuff.
