our Pre Cana experience - B+
I didn't get a chance to post our Pre Cana, which took place Friday night and all day Saturday.
I have to say that though FH and I had a great time, I don't think it was one of these incredible experiences that I read about from others. I think that was largely because the main host couple was sort of annoying. The woman had been married before (but not in the Catholic church, so it didn't need an annulment and she was permitted to remarry as a Catholic) and all she did was complain about her ex husband. The other host couples were great, though... and FH and I did have fun with some of the other engaged couples, and it was good to just 'get away' from all of the wedding planning for a couple of days. They were very liberal and accepting that many of us live together, and there were no presumptions that we weren't on BC or whatever. All that stuff was left out, which I appreciated.
However, the whole thing did NOT need to be drawn out over two days. They kept taking breaks, and there was an hour devoted to each meal. It was long -- and by the end, after 5 o'clock mass was over on Saturday, we were ready to bolt out the door.
The best part was at mass. The priest called all of us up to the altar and had us face our future spouses. He blessed us, and had us join in on a prayer. At that moment I could really envision FH and exchanging vows on our wedding day, I got a little misty. After, the congregation applauded... it was really sweet.
All in all, we had a good time, it had its highs and lows, but I am DEFINITELY glad it's over and that we passed!
