Our Wedding License Adventure
So today at lunch, FH and I decide to get our marriage license. We leave our jobs, drive through the rain, and go to the Westchester Court House, where we assume the county clerk's office is located, to get the license. After wandering around the building trying to find the office, and being stopped by two security guards, we're told that marriage licenses aren't issued in the courthouse, but in the Westchester municipal building a few blocks away. So we attempt to leave the courthouse, only to be stopped by another security guard and told we're going the wrong way. He directs us down a hallway that dumps us across the street from the actual building and we again have to fight the rain to get back to the car. So we find the Municipal building and the office where we were supposed to be. There were some sketchy characters there getting their marriage licenses too. But at least the woman who helped us was really nice. We did need our birth certificates (which we both had) and it was $40. And we are now legally able to get married! That is our wedding license story. The end.
