I'm sure some of you have out of town BM... How did you handle ordering their dresses??? I have two girls that don't live in NY and they'd prefer to order their dresses seperately. Do you think this is a good idea? I've heard that if you all don't order together, the color of the dresses might be slightly off...

All of my BMs and my MOH are out of town. I had them pick either a dress or separates by Alfred Angelo, whatever style they wanted, but it had to be satin, floor length, and in my color. THey each went to the bridal stores near them and picked their dress, but I had them all order it from the same store on LI. The bridal store on LI didnt order the dresses from AA until all the orders were in, so they would all be cut from the same dye lot. When the dresses came in, the bridal shop shipped them out to the girls.
If you are going to have all your girls in the same dress, I'd have them get measured at a local shop, then just order all of the dresses at the same time from the same store.

I actually have 3 out of staters that are my BM's and they made the trip to get measured and order the dress. The other option is to have them measured where they are, then they can all in the measurements, get the dress ordered and if they dont want to do alterations here, have the dress shipped to them. Yes, if they order separately, dye lots can be different, i wouldnt allow it. But thats me, I picked my girls dresses to match i want them to match, lol. Good luck, FM if you have any questions!

Same here. My BM's sent their measurements to me and I ordered the dress... then the salon will ship the dress to the BM to have altered there.

I have one BM OOT. She got measured where she lived and call my bridal salon here in NY and ordered the dress. She paid extra $ to have it shipped to her and will have it altered there.
I dont suggest getting them separately b/c what if they are different colors.

All of mine are out of state too. I picked out the dress and told them to go get measurements at a store near them and then call the place where I am ordering the dresses. The place took their credit card info over the phone and is shipping the dresses directly to them so the girls can get alterations. I was told that it's important to make sure that the dresses are ordered from the same place so the material is cut from the same fabric and there won't be differences in the color.

my sis lives in florida - she got measured at the place that will be doing her alterations - im going to order her dress for her when everyone else orders - ill have to pick up the dress from the bridal salon to make sure its okay and then ill send it to my sister in florida....i think its best to order them all from the same place...

2 of my BM are out of town. I had them fax all there info to the store and they got there dresses from there. Then when they came in one came to NY to pick it up and the others mother was in ny visiting so she picked up the other one. So it worke dout good. SOmetimes if you don't order them together the colors might be off a little. thats why it's good to order them all together.

the BM dress salon said they could call in there measurements and send a check, so that all of the dresses could be ordered at the same time and all dyed in the same batch so there will be no difference in the color.

I have one OOT BM and she wanted to order her dress in MD. I had no problem with it. I found a place up here that had the dress for about $70 cheaper than every other bridal store, so 2 girls ordered from there, and one girl ordered from bridal reflections (because she had a $300 gift certificate). Right before Easter, my MD BM called and said she can't find it cheaper than $290 there, so she was going to order it from here when she came home.

I ordered mine from paradise bridals and they handled my 3 OOT Bms beautifully - one who was preggo at the time!
I picked the dress out - the OOT girls called the salon and gave them their info. The girls were instructed to go to a taylor for measurements. The salon faxed a form to them to fax back with contact info, measurements, and Credit card info if they wanted. Then the dresses were ordered.
I called the salon for approx ship date (mine came late) and then i notified the girls to get their last payments in so I can pick the gowns up and ship them out. And thats just what I did!

i asked at every dress shop i went to, the honest ones will tell you the dresses are all made from the same dye lots with high quality control so it doesnt matter where you order the dresses from, the greedy shops will tell you that it makes a difference to get the sales, i used davids bridal, picked the dress and each BM ordered from convenient store for them, no problem....

ok, here's a different take. All 4 BMs are OOT, so we all went to stores to try on and get measured and then I decided to order through netbride.com since it was about $60-$80 cheaper than any in store price, and the shipping was reasonable to have them shipped to separate addresses....we would have had to pay that anyway and also paid more for the dresses ordering through a store. Also, they do guarantee dye-lot matching if you order all the same style, but since we ordered 4 different styles they don't....they are all in and they're totally fine! the fabric is iridescent tissue taffeta though so there's a little more leeway there than there might be with a solid color satin! pics in my album if anyone's interested
