I am in a dilemma...I have some of my bridal party taken care of but some of my close friends live pretty far away...does anyone have any advice on asking out of towners to be a part of the wedding party???? Is it too much of a burden because they can't be here for everything???? DOES IT WORK????

Re: Out of Town bridal party
One of my BM lives out of state. She will be included as much as possible. I'm sure she'll be up to visit before the wedding, so we'll do the hair/makeup trial then.

Re: Out of Town bridal party
I have been in 2 out of town bridal parties. it was a bit of a pain, but we were able to plan a weekend for me to go up there and everyone to meet to look for dresses and i had my dress sent to NY to be altered. There was a lot of emails and phone calls with all the girls to get the shower, etc together. it was a lot of work, but we were able to do it.
if they really want to be a part of your day, then they will make an effort to!

Two of my BMs live out of state. They understand that there may be a few little things they may not be able to be here for but it's most important that they're there on the day of. I got an idea on here about making a newsletter so I designed it this weekend and i'm sending it out this week. It has the other girls phone#s and a pic of everyone so they can see who they'll be around. I think it'll help to let them feel included.

Thank you...I like this idea...I haven't decided if I'm going to ask her yet bc she lives in CA but all the advice here is soooo helpful

Re: Out of Town bridal party
If they are a good friend/ family... it does. I'm a maid of honor for my best friend who lives in LA. Her wedding is Nov 17 and I try to do anything I can to make it seem like I'm right there with her. Threw her a shower, picked up her dress when I was out there, send notes, going out early for the wedding, etc... and most important just be there to listen. She's also one of my BM's and also 2 others live in other states not even close! Thanks to email & text message- it's still easy to have them a special part of your day!
