Out of town guest accommodations question

Out of town guest accommodations question

This might be a really stupid question, and I should probably just start calling hotels to ask this, but since I'm lazy, I thought I'd ask you ladies first .

I'm inviting about 50 out of town guests, but I'm pretty sure only about half will show. My question is, how do I know how many rooms to block off? Don't you have to guarantee a certain amount of rooms?

Figure out how many OOT guests there are coming as couples and then figure each couple as 1 room. You can reserve as many rooms as you want and the hotel will block it off. Your guests have up until a certain time to make reservations ( I think up to a month b4) and then they will release the rooms back to the public. You should not be paying for anything (Only your room if you are staying in that hotel as well).

We blocked 10 rooms, as those fill up the people at the hotel will add 10 more to our block up until one month before the wedding. Thats whne the unused rooms are released from the block.

With us, we had a lot of out of town guests as well. We blocked 15 rooms and they took a cc number because if all of the rooms were not filled, we would have to pay half the price for each room that wasnt used. I think they did it this way because they gave us a ridiculously low rate for the rooms. Fortunately we had more then 15 couples call up to stay over so we wound up having to block additional rooms. I think each hotel is different as far as what is required.

definitely call the hotels you are interested in. They all have differnt policies. Some are 20 rooms without financial responsiblity, some only allow 10 some allow as many as yo uwant.
I needed about the same number as you.
