out-of-towner needs advice

I need help! I'm attending a wedding at the Tribeca Rooftop in a few weeks and I have no idea what to wear. I'm from out-of-town and have been scouring the internet for ideas on what guests where to weddings in Manhattan.

I would love to wear something other than black. I've never met the couple so I don't know how formal the affair will be. Is color, patterns, dress length, etc. a major deal? I would love to be comfortable on what will most likely be a hot day. I'm sure I'm over-obsessing, but I don't want to look like I'm from Indiana!

Any help would be appreciated. Best of wishes to all the brides to be.

What time of day is the affair???? that will have a major impact on the type of dress in terms of what is appropriate.

I say a cocktail dress, or bias cut dress (they are usuallyslightly below the knee) are usually the safest. Also try to find out what the briday party is wearing & try not to duplicate that colour!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice. The ceremony is late afternoon and I think you've given me the safest options.

Every wedding i have been to in NYC has always been more formal/classy than most. A sun dress will probably not cut it, but one of Hearzbellz suggestions would probably be perfect.
