hello all. I was just wondering if anyone here was having an outdoor ceremony and reception. I have always wanted a wedding outside, very laid back and relaxed but with most of the traditional wedding things first dance etc. I know that you are working against (or with) mother nature but i cant find a place that i feel comfortable in. I always pictured green grass, crisp white linens, flowers, a soft breeze and lots of fun. I just cant seem to get that at a catering hall. What do you ladies think? i guess we woud have a 50/50 shot at nice weather and it might be a little more work (renting tables etc) but we have a big family and i think it would be ok. Help i have less than a year and i cant decide!!!

I wanted an out door wedding so bad, in park surrounded by beautiful trees..but unfortunately Im a student and couldnt take off in the middle of teh fall to do it..but I looked into it anyhow..you can make it work, wether it rains or not....you can rent the tent, they can put down a dance floor, an entire floor if you wnat, that way if it rains, noones feet get wet, they can put up AC's or heat, they can do whatever you want!!! I think an outdoor wedding would be fantastic!!!

how many people are you having? have you looked at the Vanderbilt Museum or Nassau County Museum of Art? They are both beautiful places to have an outdoor wedding.

I went to a wedding at Nassau County Museum of art, not sure if it can hold that many, may be tight, I can't remember, but I remember it was really nice and the grounds are beautiful.

Check out the Crow's Nest in Montauk. They do outdoor/tented weddings and set everything up.

My parents went to an outdoor wedding & they said it was amazing. First off I don't know what your budget is but I know this wedding wasn't cheap. They did an outside tent which was fully sided & could withstand rain. Then they had a full floor put down with a center inlay for a dance floor. Also, they had to rent 2 small bathroom trailers (it sounds horrible - but everyone said it was lovely) AND provide a covered & floored walkway to that. Then when they were done they had AC to keep everything cool & not humid. It rained for the later half of the evening so I guess it was all worth it.
