Outdoor wedding

My fiance and I are looking for a location on Long Island for an outdoor wedding. We are trying to avoid the traditional 'wedding factories' Maybe renting some sort of house and having the wedding in the backyard? Any suggestions?

I suggest the Atlantica in the Hamptons. It is GORGEOUS and right on the water!!!!!!!!! You can definitly personalize your wedding ceremony.

We wanted an outdoor wedding. Onteora was a beautiful B&B with a pavilian jutting off the mountain side. I can't remember the name but in the long island guides there is an event planner who will organize and arrange catering at a few different house rentals in the hamptons. Maybe some of the girls on here know her. I went and looked at her book. If you like that sort of thing you may also want to look into the Manhasset Nature Preserve as well. A very different place is De Seversky - it is in Nassau County on acres of land so it is extremely secluded, it is a historical mansion, you have the entire mansion on the day of your wedding, it is catered by the culunary institute, and no one really knows of the place so it will be most of your friends first time there.
Good Luck!

FH and I wanted to have our reception outdoors at a vineyard. Unfortunately it was out of our budget. We booked the Snapper Inn in Oakdale. The reception will be ouside in their pavilion. It has the feel of a tent but with a permanent floor in case it rains. It's definately not a typical 'wedding factory'.
