Outdoor weddings

Anyone know of any really nice, elegant, sophisticated venues for outdoor weddings in nassau county that won't make us forclose on my house? Suffolk venues look really nice, and I know some are very reasonable, but we have family coming in from Italy and all over the US and we need to be reasonably close to LaGuardia and JFK airports. I'm looking at about 100 guests and to spend about $100/person. Looking at a September 2006 wedding date. Any info would be much appreciated.

On a side note, my mom and sister looked at Brentwood Country Club (I heard they were great) and they said the place smelled musty and there was construction equipment (cranes) all over the place. I've heard so many good things about it and was even open to it despite not being in Nassau. Anyone know what the deal is there???

Have you looked into the Swan Club? They have beautiful gardens and they are in your price range. They also have the nicest indoor ceremony location in case of bad weather.

Yeah, my parents say that the food there isn't the greatest... is that true???

Well, perhaps I'm biased, because my wedding is going to be there, but we had a tasting there just last week and the food was absolutely delicious.

You might want to check out Harrison House in Glen Cove and Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor.

Is North Ritz Club about 100 pp?

ETA: Naturally I'm biased but Danfords in Port Jefferson is on the water (right on it) and has a really nice outdoor patio area (see wc0143's review and pics) and you might be able to get around 100 per person. Not Nassau, but a fun town where OOT guests can enjoy themselves.

You might want to check out the Riviera. It is within your price range and they have a very pretty outdoor ceremony area, also one affair only at a time. Check out their website.

Try the Woodlands in Woodbury, Woodbury Country Club, The Carlyle, Lawrence Country Club, Westbury Manor.....
The Woodlands, Carlyle and Lawrence CC have the golf course - estate feel. The Westbury Manor and Woodbury CC are both very pretty but IMO are more 'catering hallish'.
