Outer Envelope Addressing Question

Outer Envelope Addressing Question

The article in the community section on LIW shows that the outer Envelope should say:

Mr. and Mrs. James Ryan

I thought that it should be Mr. and Mrs. Ryan
and the inner envelope we'd do the first names if they are friends of ours (our age, etc. and adults would be Mr. James Ryan)

What are you doing??

Also--if someone is invited with a fiancee, does the outer say just her name and the inner includes her fiancee's name??

I did

Mr. & Mrs. James Ryan

and on the insides I put first names because all of them I refer to them by first names. The only couple I'll invite that I don't refer to with first names are my friends parents so them I'll put Mr & Mrs Ryan in the inner envelope.

But yes put the man's first name on the outer envelope. It's more formal.
