Outfit for my grandma?

Outfit for my grandma?

Hi gals! My mom and I are looking for an outfit for my 89 year old grandma to wear to the wedding in November. We don't think a skirt or dress would work for her. She's always been a pants person and we also don't want to get her something she could trip over. We are thinking of black pants with some sort of dressy jacket or blouse. Do you have any reccommendations for where to buy something off the rack? She doesn't like anything from the bridal shops or magazines.

TIA

I know it sounds crazy, but try Dress Barn. They have a lot of stuff that sounds like what you are describing and they just got their fall stuff in. I know because my mom just got my grandma her outfit there - she is in a nursing home so my parents bought a bunch of possibilities and she picked the one she liked and they returned the rest!

Try Lord & Taylor or Saks.

Adrianna Papel is an evening wear designer that makes separates, like beaded jackets and tops, and also plain bottoms - skirts of all lenghts and pants.

Check Lord and Taylor, they'll have exactly what you're looking for I bet.

we bought a beaded dressy black top and plain black pants for my gma. She's wheelchair bound so this was an easy solution for her.

My Aunt bought it off the rack at the mall.

I agree with her! Dress barn has a lot of dressy pants and sparkley tops .

I agree. We got my grandmother a nice jacket/blouse combo. It kind of looks like a jacket but has an attached tank/blouse underneath. The jacket part has a really nice pattern and is a little sparkly.

I had the same problem with my grandma. She loves to wear pants sets. Then she bought a dress in Fla. and it was like something you would wear to a BBQ. So, we ended up looking in Dress Barn, and she got a really nice outfit, Dressy too! It was the black flowy pants that look like a skirt, with a pretty sequence top w/matching jacket. She loved it. Definitely try Dress Barn.

Great suggestions! I have a feeling we will be doing some buying and returning, but I'm glad to have some more options of places to try.

my gram is 80 and uses are walker, so she decided on a nice pant suit. the pants are black palazzo (spelling?) style and the top is beaded. I think something on that order would be good for your Grandma!

good luck!

Re: Outfit for my grandma?

My crazy grandma found a 600 dollar dress in Fantasia that she fell in love with, mind you the sample was about 10 sizes too small so she couldnt even try it on.. She then asked one of my cousins if all of her grandchildren would pitch in and buy it for her.. My cousin said she would think about it for Christmas.. Then my grandma got all mad and was like 'WHY DO I ONLY HAVE TO GET GIFTS ON CHRISTMAS!!' ...
