I'm not totally new to the site, just new to posting. I have been looking around a lot recently and everyones posts have been really helpful. I see that a lot of people become very close while using this site which is nice since I am the first of my friends to get married and it is sometimes hard for them to understand everything I am going through.
While looking around I notice a lot of price quotes and feel that I might be over paying. I have booked the Winter Garden room at the Fox Hollow on October 27th 2012. I don't know if it is the sudden realization of how much I am investing in this day or what but I feel like I'm going crazy over here!!
I don't know what to do...

First, I think it's totally normal to have a slight panic attack when you start thinking what the day will cost you.... but what makes you feel that you are over paying??

Re: over paying?!
I think it is more the fact that you see some price quotes that are significantly cheaper then yours so you just start to wonder...
Congrats!! And you're getting married in the same room as me and on my birthday You can message me what you're paying and I'll let you know what I am so you can compare.

Re: over paying?!
Hi and welcome. You never know what someones package includes. Their price may be cheaper but they had to guarantee more, or maybe went from 9 dinner choices to 5...
This site def helped FH and I negotiate everything!

Re: over paying?!
Do you ladies know that if once a contract is signed... if their is still room for negotiation?
I highly doubt it because they really don't have a reason to...

You can't negotiate the price per person, but perhaps you can get more stations at your cocktail hour or more food for your menu etc. When you go over your menu with them they have add ons and they will say an extra 2 dollars per person etc....thats where you can get more!

Re: over paying?!
congrats on your engagement...please do not stress with your planning! Everyone has a different quote, which includes more or less options. Your are getting married at prime time, so expect that your quote will be a little higher than the off season. Perhaps you have a quote that includese VH or seafood during CH.....I am a stressball so completely know how you feel...please FM me if you have any question or want to vent or get some insight,

Re: over paying?!
welcome!!! october is one of the more pricey months, and you never know what someone else has in their package...sometimes even how many people they guarantee can lower/raise the price.
good luck planning!!

Re: over paying?!
all the quotes that I got for Oct were higher. I know that I would not be able to pay that so we decided to change the date to a cheaper month (march) all the places we liked were in the same price range and offered about the same amount of stuff

Re: over paying?!
I agree with the others. I think you need to take into consideration that they may not be getting as much as you are and they may require you to have a higher guest count. Fox hollow is catered by the Scotto brothers and they supposedly have amazing food (good reputation = higher pricing).
As far as negotiations go, I would say you still have room to get extras. Before we booked our RH, my mother actually went in and said how much we were being offered at other places and our BM added extras in. Way to go Mom!!!

Re: over paying?!
Thanks everyone for your input. I haven't really put two and two together with the whole package I received vs. the package someone else has. Right now I'm at the stage of 'OH MY LORD I'M PAYING HOW MUCH FOR SOMEONE?!'

Re: over paying?!
I was quoted $99 not including tax and grat. for that room for a Sat. night in July if this helps. I did not book there and did not negotiate.

Re: over paying?!
Keep in mind there are a lot of reasons for the significant price differences.
Time of day, time of year, day of the week, is it 1 wedding at a time, etc. are all things that factor into the price. Just because someone is paying less than you, doesn't necessarily mean that you are over paying.

Re: over paying?!
Congrats and Welcome!!!
I know how you feel being the first in your group to get married and have to do the planning. As much as my friends have the idea of the planning and stress they don't REALLY know so its hard. I've been going to my SIL a lot for my stress attacks bc of that. This site will become your newest addiction tho!! Everyone is soo helpful and really nice
as for the stress over the quote, I don't think you do much with the contract but its worth a shot to ask, is you can change something around I don't think you can change the price tho but maybe you can get something else with it. What's the worst that can happen ... If they say no, no biggie at least you tried right. Just keep in mind what your getting with the quote, and oct is an expensive time of the year. especially if you are getting married on a sat night or something like that. A lot of things factor into it. But the sticker shock can certainly make you freak out at first. Just don't let it stress you out so much
