My Hall/room has a max of 180 in the room. We have 220 on the list. Should I take out certain people with Guest & just invite them? I am worried we will have too many people. What do you think? We mail out invites first week of Sept.

you can tell people you're over capacity on the room and can't invite them with a guest now, but once you start getting nos you'll let them know if there is room for a guest.

Re: Over the Minimum- Help
I would make a B list (if u havent already) and if that is out of the question because all 220 must be invited then I would cut out w/guest for single people HTH

Re: Over the Minimum- Help
THATS A PRETTY BIG DIFFERENCE. I WOULD CUT AS MANY AS YOU CAN..I WOULDN'T INVITE MORE THAN 200 AND THATS IF YOUR PRETTY POSITIVE AT LEAST 20 WILL SAY NO

good idea also if u mail out OOT first and see how many no's u get that may give u a little wiggle room

Re: Over the Minimum- Help
It depends though too. We invited 205 guests & ended up with 135 & this was w/ sending out Save the Dates. A lot was it was during the summer & people had vacations planned. My point is you never know what's going to happen or how people are going to respond.

GO over your list of 220, im sure there are people you know WILL NOT miss it! Mark them off, then make a list for those that you are sure will be there but arent completely positive~then count.
Go back and take a look at those that are left over and if there are people you know will say no b/c they just will then start subtracting from your number.
Then go back and make an A and a B list, send out your OOT invites first in hopes that you will get them back ASAP and as you have NOs come in keep checking your list.

Another thing, is your minimum 180? or your room capacity?
Usually your minimum is well below the room capacity for this exact reason~not sure which it is

Heehee...I did the same thing you did, except I didn't catch the mistake before I sent out all the invites 'with guest'. The day I realized that was one of the scariest days ever.
I'd cut all the +1's and leave it at that.

Re: Over the Minimum- Help
supposedly 20% of guests invited will say no, so if you're inviting 220 that means roughly 44 guests will decline. You should be fine in your room. We invited 225 guests and will definitely be under 180

Re: Over the Minimum- Help
With the 20% 'no' response rate, I think you are ok, but would cut the list back a little...
We invited 232 and and about 20% said no, so far

I totally agree... My minimum is 125, I invited 166 and now I am going to be under my min. I was surprised to see the people I thought for sure would go responded NO and the people I was not counting on said YES. It is so unpredictable. I invited some people without a guest and now I can tell them they can take one, but even with that I will be under a few.
