A good thing about an overactive thyroid is that it has been said to speed up a persons matabolizim (sp?)!
But this may be a question you want to ask your Dr. sorry I couldn't help.

Re: overactive thyroid??

I had an underactive thyroid which is now controlled with meds.

I know your symptoms are opposite to mine BUT it does take a while to go back to normal while being on meds. It took me approx. a year. Don't lose hope though. Maybe your body is different from mine and you'll be able to react to the medicine quickly. Def ask your Dr.

i know A LOT of people that have this. mostly in FH's family and they are all ok. they take meds for it and are totally fine!

i have to get mine checked too. but its not a big deal as long as you have the right meds for it.

Re: overactive thyroid??

I have a borderline hyperactive thyroid, but fortunately did not need to go on meds for it. I have an excellent Dr. that I see. I *believe* that since my last appointment, he has now transitioned to only seeing cancer patients, because my sister was not able to use him. If you would like his information or his office info, FM me. He's at LIJ.

I wish mine was overactive. I have underactive.....depression, weight gain, etc.

Have you gone to the doctor? They should be able to prescribe you something to get your thyroid working at the normal level.
