Overly Affectionate Cat

Overly Affectionate Cat

My cat, chloe is way overly affectionate. I love her to death and I love cuddling her, but she is ALWAYS on me (literally). I can't walk without kicking her (not on purpose, of course) because she is in between my legs or punching her in the head (again, by accident) because she is always at my arms.

It is so frustrating and I end up yelling at her to leave me alone, but then 5 minutes she is back! It gets sooo annoying! Then I feel like a bad mommy.

Does anyone else have this problem? How can I correct this over affectionate behavior? I don't want to make her withdrawn and hate me.

Get her a friend maybe?

I have a dog also, and they are best friends and great sisters, LOL. They play together all the time, but once I come in the house, Chloe wants nothing to do with anything but me.

It is a very high compliment that she loves me so much, but it is really out of hand.

She is just a cuddler. She will in time get better.

Try giving her a 30-45 min playtime when you get home. It'll wear her out and she'll relax a bit.

You can also try Composure liquid. It is likely that she is stressed when you aren't home so she is clinging to you when you are. Also, turn classical music on for her while you're away.

Yes...tire her out! My Blue is very demanding. He needs constant attention and affection. I too kick him when I walk (not on purpose) and feel awful. He follows me to the bathroom, climbs atop the toilet while I brush my teeth, goes on the window sill while I'm in the kitchen...loves to smell and lick me. Yes, he's a 'dog like' cat.
The only thing that works is to lay down and hold him and let him purr for a god 20 minutes until he gets it out of his system and/or to play with him. I have ribbon that he loves to chase so I run arund the apartment like a maniac and he chases me...then gets tired and goes to bed.

It is the highest compliment...you're a good mommy - hang in there!
