Is anyone thinking of extending there time on the reception? I want to but they want to charge me $2600!!!!! for one hour! Is that the norm?

Re: Overtime charge!!
For us it was based on a per person charge - you have to pay to keep the staff and for liquor.
You will also have to pay the entertainment company OT and reschedule your pick-ups from the limo company.

Re: Overtime charge!!
ours was also a pp charge, but it came out to about the number you have (slightly less b/c we don't have that many people). so i don't think that number is totally out of hand.

Re: Overtime charge!!
Ours is a per person charge as well, I think we were told $5 each. But as everyone else said you willhave to find out the OT charge for your DJ/Band and Photo/Video (if applicable) and add that. It really adds up. We decided just to wait until that day and decide as it gets later.

Re: Overtime charge!!
As I said, we are waiting until the day of to decide. If at 11:30pm our friends are having a good time and enjoying themselves we will spring for it only because we dont see our friends very often as most of them live out of state. Same goes for a large portion of my family. But we dont want to decide before then because what if everyone has had enough and most people have left? Then you paid alot for a hand full of people. See if the hall will budge on that number. see if they will work with you at all. Is that a per person charge or just a general charge? Also where are you getting married?

Re: Overtime charge!!
That is a lot...I rather plan an after hours at a bar/hotel and party there and the money towards food/liquir there (or maybe others will chip in once there)
Plus you just gave your guests a party already. You don't need to give more at that point. Let them take you guys out for those left still wanting to party

Re: Overtime charge!!
We were considering having a longer reception from the get go. Our catering manager said to play it by ear the day of the wedding, so you are not prepaying. I am glad we did that, by the end of the reception most people were gone, the rest of the partiers, about 20 people, went to a local bar. And I was actually done for the day and we went back to the hotel.

We also got a pp charge for an extra hour. Which is absolutely ridiculous since they ain't bringing no more food out! So we declined on that. Also considered doing an after party at the hotel but won't.
