Overwhelmed?

Overwhelmed?

I've been engaged since May 25, 2007, and I'm already feeling so overwhelmed by the wedding planning. Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

Sorry, but I need to vent...FH just doesn't seem to understand...he keeps telling me why I stress out about things, FH doesn't make things easy because he wants me to look into lots of vendors; my parents don't make things easy because they want things to be a certain way. And since our budget is not huge, I don't want to hire a wedding coordinator.

I've booked the church, RH, Photogrpaher, Videographer, and it seems like the mountain gets taller and steeper (uphill) with each booking. The next big challenge: find a Greek band that plays both Greek and American music (and isn't too expensive either) ..... aaaaaarrrrrggggg!

In addition to wedding planning, I'm finishing a 2nd MA at NYU (and have to write a portion of my thesis by Dec 10), I teach 2 undergrad classes at Wagner College (Staten Island) and 1 at Adelphi, I'm doing an internship at the American Museum of Natural History (2 days a week), and am using a cane to get around due to a serious back problem (for which I'll be having surgery on 1/22/08).

I'm having a hard time concentrating on all these other things because wedding plans are distracting. And as a result I've been feeling not just overwhelmed but also kinda depressed.

Any advice about how to shake the blues?

Thanks for listening.

Re: Overwhelmed?

take a day just for YOU!!! no phone calls, no wedding stuff, no teaching, not even DH! lol. and NOO talk about any of the above! Go to a spa & get a massage, come home & make a bubble bath for urself, and then wear something comfy plop on the couch and watch a good movie! i will say you have a LOT on ur plate..i can not even fathom doing all those things! As for wedding stuff, it seems like u've got a lot booked already which means ur ahead of the game ...being that u have a lot of time, try taking a few weeks off of wedding stuff & give urself breathing room since u have the liberty to do so! don't worry...i know it's busy, and expensive(and i can't get over all of the education stuff ur doing!) but breathe & try to enjoy it. It goes so quickly and u want to remember it as a beautiful time - not a crazy stressed time! After ur day for u, go on a date with FH (again without ANY talk of wedding, school or work ). U just need to take time for yourself and time for you & DH. Yes, easier said than done, but it WILL make u feel better.....and of course VENT. Vent on here as much as u want! I wish u all the best & hope things get smoother for you! just remember then when it's all over you'll be married to the man of your dreams

Re: Overwhelmed?

Why dont you book Powerstation, I booked them. They are pricey but well worth it.

Im doing things my way an not involving anyone but FH. I tell things to my parents after the case bec they to do want things a certain way, but my wedding, MY WAY!!!

Dont be overwhelmed, have fun with it and enjoy it while it lasts bec in a blind of an eye its going to be over

Re: Overwhelmed?

Take a break from wedding planning. You have gotten most of your big vendors booked. SO take some time off and focus on other tings. and try and set a day asdide for you to relax. maybe get a mani-pedi. or a massage.

Re: Overwhelmed?

I got engaged on the exact same day and my wedding is in Sept. '08. Don't let it overwhelm you. I do that sometimes and my friends bring me back to Earth. You have a lot on your plate and it seems like you have taken care of a lot of big vendors for the wedding. You are in great shape. Some days I am STRESSED out because of the planning and the cost but sometimes I just get a mani & pedi or read a good book so I can get a break from it all.

Everything will come together.
