Overwhelmed - need help!

We are thinking of starting to look at venues and I was hoping for some insight.
Every place seems to have positives and negatives. I would appreciate some insight into these venues and if there is a particular manager you feel we should ask to meet with.
How important is your banquet manager in the overall process?
Is there a list of questions I should be asking posted somewhere?

Thanks for your help.

Oheka (I must say my FH is a little spooked about it because of what just happened)
Carlyle on the Green
Carltun on the Park
Crescent Beach Club
Sands - Atlantic Beach
Harbor Club
Venetian Yacht Club
Bridgeview Yacht Club
Thatched Cottage (I know they are having problems but my BFF's sister was married there 6 years ago and it was such a pretty setting)
Allegria

We are looking for a beautiful setting with grounds and/or a view.

Re: Overwhelmed - need help!

i dont have any insight other than everyone has their opinions on venues. the best thing is to go see for yourself. everyone has different taste, budgets, and priorities. have fun with it!

Overwhelmed - need help! - Long Island Weddings

carlyle on the green was the best wedding i've been to. We would have booked there but we got engaged like right after our best friend's wedding there and didn't want to do the same thing as them- everything was phenomenal though and the food was top notch

Overwhelmed - need help! - Long Island Weddings

I just got married at Thatched Cottage in October and I couldn't have been happier with the entire process. Meet with Maureen, she is literally the best. She was always quick to respond and would sometimes email us at random just to see how things were going. We are still getting compliments on the food (and the reception in general) 5 months later. I know there's a lot going on there right now, and I understand people being hesitant, but it literally was the best place with amazing people.

You have to go and find out for yourself.. everyone has mixed reviews on every venue. I just took a list of venues I knew I wanted to see and found my place after going to 4 other places. I honestly wouldn't suggest going with a venue going through financial problems, it's just an always looking over your shoulder type feeling and god forbid you lose your deposit.

Good luck!!

The only one on your list I've seen so far was Venetian Yacht Club. It was gorgeous, but still under renovation from Sandy. The BM (Felicia-SO NICE! LOVED HER!) said the landscaping will be finished in the spring, but the ballroom finish date is unknown because the owner is insisting on replacing the carpet with new carpet and everyone else is insisting it should be all marble like the new cocktail room. The view is to die for, so beautiful. We decided it wasn't for us because we're on a tight budget and would only be able to afford a November wedding there, and it would be dark by the time we even got there. No point in a place with a view if ya can't see it!
