Overwhelming Response to RSVPS!

So...when you send out your invites, everybody always says that usually half to 3/4 of the people you invite actually come. So, we invited 200 people. I have a blended family and he also has a big family. Yesterday I sat down with the RSVP's that we recieved so far (im still waiting on 10)...and I counted 205 yeses!! Now how does that happen when I only invited 200? And not only that, but we already paid the hall for 150 people, thinking that would be plenty enough and now when I call with my final count its going to be 100's more . Im glad everyone is coming, excited to see all my family but this is just getting so expensive....the closer it gets, the more money we're putting in to it. I cant wait till its all over!!

OMG.. Im a little scared about our RSVPs too.. .it does get expensive esp when you think a certain amount is coming and then more actually show up :

You should make sure that nobody is bringing a guest if they weren't invited with one. If you have to, maybe you can let the people who invited their own guest know that they weren't invited with a guest.

I went through the names of the people who haven't sent back RSVPs yet, and I THINK we're going to eke by with our minimum. A LOT of people are saying NO because it's two weeks after the school year--prime vacay time.

our mistake is that we didn't write Adults Only on the invitation, because tons of people are coming with their children, only nine of which are under 14 but the others are coming with their kids who are like 16,17,18,19,20 and their gf/bf's

it boggles my mind why anyone would want to pay for 2 or 4 extra ppl. i.e, we have a family with 2 sons and they are bringing their girlfriends so thats 6 ppl right there!

We have a final count of 225

yeah I had to put the brakes on the guest list because FMIL was getting a little out of hand with who she wanted to be invited. I told her I only ordered 100 invites and I don't plan of ordering more so you need to draw the line at some point!

That's what I did. I just took all the extra invites with me to work one day to hide them from my dad who was inviting everyone he ever met!

: could there be a way that people you invited as single are bringing guests and that how you have 205 ?

i get so worried fh invites everyone, including the mailman!! what the heck !! lol!!

Am I the only person freaked out by this???!!! How do people just ASSUME they can bring their entire family. You didn't make a mistake by not putting ADULTS ONLY RECEPTION on there, b/c most brides don't do that. If you addressed it to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith....they should be coming as Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith...not them and their 4 kids and the kids bf and gfs!!!

What's wrong with people??? I would put my size 7 up their butts. Do they think you have a money tree???!!!!

i am TOTALLY with you on this...granted, some people that are coming will definitely be generous in how much they give and i am basing this off of past events. But there are some that are bringing an army of 6 and are DEFINITELY going to give like 200 for the bunch! UGHHHHHH

I'm still waiting on a ton of RSVPs but so far we have 68 YESes. We actually invited some 'and family' people from OOT (FH's family who likely will not come). It's going to be such a surprise as we get closer who is coming and who isn't.

I did get my updated hotel block list emailed to me this morning (I just email and ask for it whenever I want) and two people I haven't got RSVPs from are coming!!! I'm very excited about that. One is FH's former co-worker who moved out to Seattle and another is a friend of mine from college who lives in Minnesota. (I missed her wedding two years ago...)

Sorry about all your unexpected extras! I only have 15 CPs (I bought my own vases) so if we need more than 15 tables, I have no idea what I'll do!!!!!!!! Eek.

Oh good. Im glad its not just me, I was feeling kinda of 'bitchy' about it but you're all right. I actually got an email today from one of my younger cousins that I invited along with my aunt and uncle...she says'Me and my boyfriend will be there if he can get off work'...SO I wrote back politely and just said that we're asking that only immediately family come. I do feel bad though saying that and I shouldnt. I think thats how I got here in the first place, but Im putting my foot down now! Thanks ladies

OMG! This is my worst fear! FH and I agreed that we were only inviting 100 people total but When FMIl gave us the list they had 15 extra paople on their side and when FH told her to cut 15 people out she said 'oh they all arent going to come''. Weell as of right now we have 56 Yes' and 3 no's! We were only hoping for a total of 75 becausethat is our minimum! This doesnt seem to be happening!

OMG thats so exciting that you got so many yeses but so scary to have to pay so much more. ITs def one thing I am scared of with my RSVPs when the invitations go out. I want everyone to come but at the same time its sooooo expensive
