ovulation predictor question

ovulation predictor question

I have been using Clear Plan...and it's not so clear!

I started on the 10th day after the first day of my cycle (which was on the 10th) - I was waiting for the two lines to look the same - they looked the same on Monday the 13th - but it was weird because they BOTH were light. Before, the 'reference' line had been darker...does anybody know if that means that I was ovulating? Or does it sound like maybe the test didn't 'take' well that day?

Re: ovulation predictor question

I used OPTs and that's what helped me get pg within 3 months. I bought the strips off of the internet, and they are tricky to read, but my cycle is very regular, so I just went with if the test line is the SAME color or DARKER than the reference line I was ovulating or about to ovulate. I'm not sure what it means if the reference line was darker than the day before.

Remember that the sperm need to be waiting for the egg, so that it's best to DTD 1-2 days before you ovulate.

Re: ovulation predictor question

I have heard more negatives than positives about those kits. I tried them for a few months and never got a positive. I decided to give the monitor a try I get positives every month.

Unfortunately there has been no results from these positives. I guess my eggs are just too old and tired.

Re: ovulation predictor question

I been using OPK as well. There is usually a number to call for questions in the direction packet. I would call since every test kit is different depending on manufacturer. I know with mine all my negatives were only one line when it finally hit positive there were two lines --the one line was darker than the reference line so it was pretty obvious. It was the only time I had two lines. I would definitely call the number and ask.

This is my second month trying and first with OPKs. Should know in a few days if my friend shows up. It's so frustrating going through this -- was nice to see some others as well dealing with the same situations.

Maybe we need a TTC tab

Good LUck!

Re: ovulation predictor question

I didn't have much luck with those tests until I spent the $ on the little fertility monitor computer thingy (how clearly I describe that! ). That is more of a pain because you need to test a lot more often, but within 3 cycles of using it I got PG! The strips are tough to read and you're not always sure when you should be 'aggressively' trying. The computer thing makes it very clear when you should be spending time with hubby! It's the Clearplan Fertility Monitor - for me it was worth the money. Good Luck to all of you TTC. It was tough when we were trying. We tried 2 months without any 'tests', 3 months with the strips, and then 3 months with the monitor - I should have used the monitor right away! Don't put too much pressure on yourselves - try to relax!

Fran- your eggs are not too old or tired.
A girl on another chat board told me about this bookTaking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health (Revised Edition)
She said that it helped her to get pregnant and understand her body- as we are not as 'scheduled' as some doctors want us to belief.
Do NOT dispear. It can take a long time to have your dream, but you cannot give-up.
P.S.buy.com has free shipping so I would get it there instead.

Re: ovulation predictor question

I agree with Michele, that book was another thing that helped me get pg within 3 months. I bought a used copy for about $10.00 that was in perfect condition on Amazon.com. I would offer to give it to you, but already sent it to my sister who's TTC.

I charted/took my temp every morning, checked my cervical fluid, used OPKs, and went on TTC boards (babymed.com and epregnancy.com were the best). I admit I was a little obsessed, but it worked. The temp thing did not work for me as well as checking my CF and using the OPKs, but it did confirm that I did indeed ovulate.

Re: ovulation predictor question

I promised myself that when we start TTC I will give it 6 months before I start to obess, as I can obess very easily and it will take over my whole life (Claud can attest to that about me )
Nina- can you share some insights from this book that helped you?

Re: ovulation predictor question

I know what you mean about obsessing. I'm already doing it. But it doesn't help that we decided to TTC last February and the whole year I did prep work and now that we officially started TTC in Dec -- I can't stop thinking about it.

I have six friends having babies this year. 2 in March, one in April, two in May and one in June!

I have three baby showers in the next four weeks! So it's all around me. AHHHH -- you are very wise to try to keep it in check but it's so hard not to obsess. Once you've made up your mind to start trying you just want it to happen.

I'm not familiar w/ OPK's but I used the Clear Plan Fertility Monitor since my cycle is all over the place, and it worked on the 2nd cycle!!! It's the best $200.00 I ever spent!!

Good luck!!

Re: ovulation predictor question

ladies .... please post sites or places to buy the monitor! This sounds like the way to go. We're already talking about it, and as I'd rather not waste any time 'fooling around', this might be a good place to start!

Re: ovulation predictor question

I bought the monitor in Duane Reade - I think you should be able to get it in any drugstore - it's probably behind the counter somewhere because it's so expensive. I really do believe it was a huge help and will use it for our next baby! Here's a link to drugstore.com - more info and a pretty good purchase price. Don't forget you need to buy a supply of test sticks to go with it! Good Luck!

Re: ovulation predictor question

You can even check out those fertility chart calendars online at www.babycenter.com and www.babymed.com, www.tryingtoconceive.com, www.americanbaby.com.

You put in the date of your last period and then they tell you when you're ovulating and most fertile!
