Ozone Park Brides

Where are you having your ceremony?

My parish is technically SMGH, and I went to school there and everything, but in general Nativity just seems to be more responsive. Just wondering what you were doing, and who your officiant is

I live out here in Suffolk, but I grew up in Ozone Park. I LOVE nativity and I always wanted to get married there, I say go for Nativity, it's such a gorgeous church!

I lived in OP for a long time and have been to both Nativity and SMGH. I like them both...but know that the priest at Nativity is younger and def answers calls faster; SMGH is 'old school' and my DH's brother had to do a LOT of things in order to get married there...I ended up at Holy Child Jesus in Richmond Hill - had a great experience.

SMGH is really annoying me! They don't answer my calls, they won't let me speak witha priest, and then the deacon doesn't answer my calls. My family has literally been in the parish literally from Day 1, so I don't get it!

My friend lived in Ozone Park and she had her wedding at Nativity.

I was married at St Mary Gate of Heaven.
I went to school there as well. My family still belongs to the parish.
Our Priest was Father Matt who is the pastor of the church.
Deacon Richard Gilligan did our interviews and he was also part of the mass.
I had no problems and was so happy to be married in the church that was my parish since I was a little girl.

Try asking for Deacon Richard. He was great.
I think they are really short staffed right now and maybe that is why you are having trouble.
Sorry to hear you are having a bad experience.

Jen,
I'm having mine at Nativity. MY FH belongs to SMGH, and EVERYONE get's married there, I think it will be a shock when they see NATIVITY on the invitation. I'm not really religious, so it didn't matter to me. But I like Nativity :)

SMGH did take a little while to return the call but they were fine after that. I grew up there and couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else!

I'm SO irritated with them. I have left SOOO many messages for Deacon Rich. They want me to meet with Deacon Tom, which I don't want to do for a number of reasons. Fr. Matt is an AMAZING wedding officiant. I've seen him do several weddings, including my sister's, and he just makes it so so special and meaningful. I'm just annoyed with the way they've been handling everything. Maybe I shouldn't give up

I am sorry to hear that you still not have heard back from them. I know Deacond Rich started a new job right before I got married.
Maybe he is not as involved with the weddings anymore. My sister is getting married on Labor Day at ST Mary's and she has been dealing with Deacon Tom. Father Matt is doing the mass. I hope things get better for you. Did you try going to the rectory?
