P90x is the fantabulous!

P90x is the fantabulous!

I know there have been several p90 posts in the past but I just wanted to share my experience in the event it motivates even ONE of you!!

I didn't have any weight to lose (and I've got the appetite of a truck driver - sorry) but I started p90 in an effort to really rock the heck out of my sweetheart dress!

I have to say, while it was painfully brutal and I did just about every modification that was offered, I am SOOOOO pleased with the results! My arms are more toned than ever before....my back is defined but still feminine.....my abs are the BEST I've ever had (perfect for Maui)....overall, I am just so happy...all the sweat and hard work has been really worth it!

DO IT!

You did the full 90 days? I've never ever ever seen anyone do it all the way til the end! I do it on and off. It really is an amazing workout!

I did the full 90 days of workouts with a many extra days of rest throw in throughout. I also did many of the modifications (ie - majority of pushups from knees, all assisted pull ups and many moves without weights). My fiance has battled through the cycle of 90 days 3 times. He is a beast.

Is it a workout that you do at home?

Re: P90x is the fantabulous!

Yup. It is series of DVDs. There are modifications for things that you can use at home that you would potentially need gym equipment for (for example, workout bands, chairs, etc).

The premise is that its a total body program with cardio built in. Some of the workouts (Kempo and Plyometrics) are cardio intensive. Others are weight based and others are core focused.

It is honestly amazing! I've spoken to personal trainers about it and the feedback has always been positive and supportive of the program. You DEF get results...but it is NOT NOT NOT an easy thing. You have to be in pretty decent shape to even fight through it. I just did my best - there was a lot I had trouble with and even still, I got amazing results!

did you do the classic or lean workout? I tried the classic a while back, but I'm thinking about restarting with the lean program. I could never follow the diet - I'm terrible with things like that!

Holy hell! Way to go to both of you!!!

But those modifictions are exactly what they tell you to do. Otherwise you could seriously hurt yourself. I'm impressed! Did you find you had to take in a lot more calories to keep up your energy? I need to get back into it!

In regards to food, yes - I found myself REALLY hungry and REALLY sore/uncomfortable if I wasn't eating enough or right. My fiance drinks shakes (not the beach body ones) and in hindsight I wish I had gotten light girlie version to help with muscle recovery.

I'm going to keep doing the p90 workouts....just on my own time...prob 3-4 times a week post wedding. I'll prob look into a light shake.

In terms of eating...we would always find ourselves hungry after dinner but too late to really start diving in. Dark chocolate powerded almonds really got me thru hahaha.

i think P90 is great! i work out pretty much all the time and have just maintained my weight or even gain sometimes. I started P90x in the spring and toned up and lost weight - i stopped though when i went on vaca and never went back on it again until this week and I know I'm going to see a difference. Everyday, there's a different part of my body that's sore! i cant wait til i hit day 90!

ITA!

I run the P90X classes at my base (yes they're dvds but in case anyone gets hurt/needs medical assistance yada yada). We meet every morning at 0630 and 0900 on the weekends and we're halfway through phase 2. I've lost about 10 pounds so far, but gained a lot more muscle, I feel like I'm back in high school, when I was much more fit. And we always show up because we're all counting on each other (i have to show up as I have the key, haha).

ALSO girls... many fitness articles/trainers and the like have said you don't neccessarily need to spend money on recovery or protein drinks. The best after workout drink for us is fat free chocolate milk! How about that? I think its a great excuse to drink chocolate milk, and Hershey's even makes a light syrup!
