Where do I start??? We are moving from our apartment to a house in a few weeks and the whole process is overwhelming. What's the first step in the packing/moving process? I've got boxes! How do I organize myself

take photos of all of your stuff then either list it or put the camera/film in a safe place
go room by room and throw out stuff that you do not want to take/keep
get: boxes, either bubble wrap or packing paper, tape, and markers
pick a room and start to pack, do a little each day.
If you can get the dish cover things from lillian vernon they will help with all the dishes and glassware.
Oh one thing for your new place, get a bucket with a handle, paper towels, fantastic, windex, commet, clorox wipes, a scisor and drawer liners -- it will hep to have these things so when you put your stuff in your new place they will be clean.
Label each box with the contents and what room it should be placed into in your new home.
Make a list and number each box so that you know what was generally in each box and that you are not missing anything after the move.
Give boxes to movers to put on the truck and get insurance.
For your new house have some paper cups, plates, and plastic silverware and napkins so you can get something to eat and have something to eat it on, Moving will make you hungry/thirsty and it is tiring work.

My one suggestion is to know where your sheets/pillow are to make your bed. I find that moving day you are so tired at the end of the day, the last thing you want to do is make your bed. So make your bed early!

the only tip I have is
when I pack my closet - I leave everything on the hangers- and take garbage bags- cut a hole for the hangers- and make garment bags- then ties the bottom so you don't lose anything
then when you get to the new place- hang up the bags and remove
I also pack my dresser by draw- it makes it easier to un pack

I do the same thing with the clothes and the garbage bags - makes life SOOOOOO much easier when unpacking!
