packnplay ?S more ?s girls

hi gals- I saw a thread here about where is baby to sleep on weekends?? so here are my ?S

Julianne is sitting up and rolls and flips on the bed and in the crib but honestly because I dont have carpeting I dont put her on the floor much...so she is not crawling much yet

I have a pack n play that we have YET to use and she is 8 months old
I would think now is the time to finally use it.
Do you think she will take to using it...and that I can also use it to have her sleep in it?

you know- these are dumb questions!

I will try this week now that she is feeling better...but I can't see putting her to sleep there. If she falls asleep in the swing..take her out and somehow get her into the bottom of that playpen still sleeping? soemtimes she wakes when i try to put her in the crib and that is higher up.

Same queston when I am putting her to sleep at night. AFter nursing for a little bit and singing/rocker her when she nods off...to LOWER her into the pack n play...not sure is she will go for it
In Dec we are driving down to FLa in our VW eurovan camper to my SILS for the holidays.,,and she asked if we are bringing packnplay...guessing to use as a subsitute bed?

what do you think?

WHY DOES THIS BAFFLE ME??

Re: more packnplay ?S LONG

Phyl,
My pack and play has a bassinet addition so I don't have to lower Joseph down, not sure what the weight limit is though...

Re: more packnplay ?S LONG

Doesn't she sleep at night in a crib?
The pack & play is just a safe place for her to play during the days or sleep when you are away. I would never take her out of a swing in the middle of a nap to place her in something else. Why? I would let her nap in the swing.
I need a pack& play for our trips to MA to see in-laws. That is the reason I got one. But at home I am sure I will only use it for play time.
You should bring it down to FL with you, since your SIL probably doesn't have a crib for her to sleep in.

more..

hi!
yes she does sleep in the crib..I was just wondering if I should have some practice runs with Julianne...since I have not used the pack nplay to date...
so, along with being in a different home with lots of people around, I didnt want to introduce a new sleeping type of place too ...

was wondering what other mom's experiences have been about LOWERING a sleeping baby into the pack n play...seems to me if I put J to sleep by rocking her...she will wake from the 'falling' sensations....

yes- the bassinette will not be used as she is 15 pounds...weight limit on that is something like 10 pounds.

this pack n play is like a darned rocketship! seems VERY involved!

But I think I must need one...I mean, I am finding a need for EVERYTHING else...why not this?

Re: more..

Once my brother showed me how to put it up and down it was really simple to work.

WOW! I Cant beleive you still havent used it!
She's almost at the age where she will HATE being in it It might be a rough time to introduce her to something that 'closes her in' when she's just getting mobile.
She's at the age where she wants to crawl and explore and stand herself up and stuff. Do you have one room thats carpeted that she can crawl around in?
You will still get good use of the packnplay, as far as naps and leaving her safely when you have to get something done. Ive never put JA to sleep in it either, but a few times, he fell asleep in it while playing or right after a bottle.
Im sure if Julianne adapted ok to having a new sleeping place at daycare, she'll be fine. Babies are more adaptable than we think! They will fall asleep in a grocery cart if thats when they are tired! Id say you should bring it with you on vacation. It will be a lifesaver. LEt her nap in it once or twice, she'll be perfectly fine! Throw some toys in there and she'll be happy. (of course when you walk away and leave her there, get ready for these faces )

You'll be fine mommy!

ETA: I miss the swing! Let her enjoy it while she still can! JA LOVEDDD it, and then he outgrew it!

Re: Phyl...

Phyl, here's a tip on not creating the 'falling' sensation for Julianne...

Instead of just lowering HER into the crib/pack-n-play...lower your whole body down as far as you can while keeping her snuggled close to your chest. Once she's close enough to the mattress, lower her the rest of the way while keeping yourself as close to her as possible. Then slowly stand up again. It sounds difficult on your back, but feeling your closeness should take away the 'falling' sensation you describe.

Re: Phyl...

I think she will get use to the PNP just fine. Everything I worried about Luke adapting to never came to pass as an issue so I would think that Julianne is probably a pretty adaptable kiddo too. I think with the bassinet, I'd be not so much looking at the weight as much as if she could pull herself up and out of it. She's about 9 months, right? I'd put her in the bottom of the PNP at this point.

I have no advice about how to lower her in, my kid sleeps like a log so we've never had a problem moving him around.

Oh theres no question about the bassinet part being useless at this point. I think its only good for the first 3-4m at the most.

last night...long

hi girls-
she's 8 months..about 15 pounds....she sat up on her own just about 3 weeks ago...which seems late in comparision with her peers. She sits up now a lot..does a lot more in daycare...rolls around, etc...but hasn't really crawled.
I only have one room with carpet- my bedroom...which also is the main stomping ground of 2 cats. so I vaccum it a lot.
Put her on the floor last night while I changed out of work clothes and she immediatley started crying. would not stop even when daddy sat on the floor next to her. only stopped when mommy picked her up. Gave her some dinner (squash and applesauce) and she wanted very little of that- cried through that too. took her outside to calm her...we sat and read a book while daddy cooked...and she was content to sit in the swing watching baby neptune while we ate. (its like 8pm now)..fell asleep in the swing and went right into her crib no problem.
I think she was overftired soince it was her first day back in daycare after beingout sick all week....

I do lower myself as far as I can when puttin gher in the crib...and then extend my arms.
Trouble will be the PNP whose mattress is NOT waist high! I have a back that gives me problems...
can't picture lugging myself INTO the PNP squatting down, lowering her down, getting her on the mattress, climbing out and she will still be sleeping??? dont think so...

tell me what I am thinking that is so messed up??
