In that whole time you guys talked about grapples, I never once thought it was for real. I figured it was a joke, and the avatars were clever uses of photoshop or something.

And then I saw them in the Supermarket tonight. My head exploded.

Just wanted you to know.

Grapples = Real
Orples = Fake

I hope you didn't buy the grapples though - SOOOOOO not worth the extra money!

I searched for them for months, myself....and had to keep myself from jumping up and down in Waldbaums when I finally found them!

Rachel: Were you aware of the existence of Grapples?
Friend: uh no
Rachel: I thought it was a joke for the longest time
Rachel: They are engineered apples that look like apples but taste like grapes.
Rachel: And I thought it was a joke.
Rachel: But there they were tonight, in the produce section.
Friend: kind of like popples :)
Friend: wow
Rachel: I'm going to have nightmares.
Friend: that would confuse my mouth
Rachel: The only reason I saw them is because they were right next to a display of chocolate dessert shels
Rachel: shells
Rachel: You know what I'm talking about right?
Friend: lol
Friend: i've never heard of them before
Rachel: They're like these little yellow cakes that you put whipped cream and strawberries on
Friend: oh yeah, desert shells
Friend: i thought you meant the grapples
Rachel: And I've never seen them in chocolate before.
Friend: so I wonder, can you make wine out of them
Rachel: I don't know
Rachel: But I've heard they aren't very good, and rather overpriced
Friend: ha yes, kind of like Tom Cruise

Lori: Tom, you'll never guess what I found at the grocery store today!!
Tom: What?
Lori: Close your eyes
Tom: (closes eyes)
Lori: (takes grapples out of refrigerator and holds them up for Tom to see) SEE?
Tom: What is that?
Lori: They're grapples!!! Apples that taste like grapes! The ones I've been obssesing about for the last month!!!
Tom: (yawm) That's great
Lori: Come one, say it - Grape-EL
Tom: (walks out of the room, shaking head)

It tasted like you're eating an apple in a room filled with grape juice because the grape juice scent is so strong, but not strong enough to overcome the apple taste.
Very odd, indeed.

I've heard of them upsetting the stomachs of some LIWers

I was just going to say I buy them at Waldbaums. They are not cheap though.
