Re: panic mode..dress
You can order it probably in april or may and then get the alterations in august

If you have a bridal shop you know you will be looking at anyway you can go in and ask the average time to order a dress.

I would go look first...actually I want to lose weight but I ordered my dress already. I am going to go back in November and be remeasured again ...hopefully I will be a smaller size

It sometimes depends on the designer too. Mine is eve of milady and two dress shops told me it can take 8-10 months for my dress to come in. I'd go look w/in the next month or 2.

Completely agree...my dress took 5 months to come in! I would go searching for your gown & see what the time frame is for ordering. I think they can sometimes get dresses in sooner but you need to pay a fee

You really have A LOT of time. You can order your dress 3 months before the wedding and have final alterations done a month before the wedding. I know that certain designer dressed must be ordered way in advance but thats what the salons tell you in order to get you hooked and order the dress ASAP. If you tell them that your wedding is 5 months aways, I guarantee you that they will get the dress within 4-6 weeks...trust me on this one. Also, if you're planning to lose some weight, wouldnt it make more sense to have the alterations done as closely to the wedding date as possible?

I agree again with this. I'd definitely look soon, and order soon b/c some dresses do take a long time to come in. They can always alter your dress and take it in - a lot easier than taking it out....
Besides, I don't know what kind of weight loss you have in mind, but I'm sure it's not dramatic like going from a size 18 to a size 2 or something right?

No need to panic. You still have time with your wedding more than a year away. I was engaged this past February and am only having a 9 month engagement. My wedding is in 8 weeks. I didn't order my dress until the beginning of this past April.

Thanks ladies! I was thinking of starting early January, which would be 9 months.. I will not be going down 10 sizes, i just don't want to pass something up that I may feel more comfortable in two months later!
Thanks for all of you feedback, i really appreciate it!!!!
