How's Poppa?

thanks for asking

hes the same
my dad has 'bipolar depression'

none of us knew he ever had it till he lost his job of over 25 years when i was 16...Then he fell into a deep funk and was suicidal...He was in North Shore for a few nights but they did nothing. THen he ws just outand seeing therapists...He snapped out of it after around 6 months on his own....

then he relapsed for a few months when i turned 18 and went to NYU...that and financial reasons are why i came home and didnt dorm long...this lasted a few months too

and now the week after mothers day , again!!!!he doesnt sleep, hes shaking all the time, crying, pacing back and forth, cant do anything...Doctors suck and all they want to do is drug him up... which has HORRIBLE side effects...My mom is taking him to a new, very hard to get doc tonight... We'll get his opinion...But we all feel hes going to say what we're thinking... that he needs to be 'sent' somewhere..

I dont know....

i cant even look at any of the wedding threads bc i get physically sick to think he might not be able to remember or enjoy my wedding....and with everyone RSVPing to my shower no this saturday(my dad wants my to have it regardless), ive been crying myself to sleep every night

THEREFORE, I distract myself by talking on NWR and LIF and running on my treadmill with clubn music blasting

sorry for the long rambling

Re: PapayaChic

one of my most wonderful and bestest friends is bipolar.

she was the same and hated the way the drugs made her feel.

she's taking part in a new form of treatment and has been better.

I'll ask her for the info.

I am sorry for your pappa and your family. it takes a huge toll on everyone.

Re: PapayaChic

My step father was bipolar (he later died of a heart attack). Because of his bizarre behavior, I am the anti-social wallflower I am today. I feel your pain completely, it's just as hard on the families/friends as it is on the ones suffering.
