Quick question ladies. When people say: 'I bought my FH tickets to a ball game, that is the PAPER gift.'
What does PAPER mean??? I feel like I am still trying to learn the wedding lingo

yes, it is traditional for the first anniversary to give 'paper' can be stationery, can be a book, can be almost anything. again, these are just the 'traditional' markers. there's no hard and fast rule that you have to do that.
