Parent entrance at the reception question

Parent entrance at the reception question

My fh's parents are divorced and do not talk. My ffil has a girlfriend but she is not coming to the wedding. My ffil does not like his x-wife at all.

How do I have them announced into the reception? Would they feel really ackward if they had to walk in by themselves?

Can you maybe have a BM escort dad in and a GM escort mom in or a family member not in the wedding?

But then they wouldn't be announced with the bridal party and I feel like that is not fair to them

Have one of the GMs walk in with FMIL and one of the BMs walk in with FFIL. They are still announced as GM and BM.

I'm not announcing any parents. FMIL is widowed and I definitely wouldn't put her on the spot because I think she'd be really sad, and my parents don't care.

but i agree maybe have them each walk in with a GM or BM.

I had this problem too. My dad and his new wife came in together, then I had my brother walk my mom in (he was in the bridal party). I actually had them introduced as the mother of the bride Susan, escorted by the brides brother Justin. hth

i have the same problem! no parents are married ( FFIL isnt even invited to the wedding) and my parents hate each other .

i think i am either going to skip the parents intro
or have my mom and FMIL walk out together and my dad solo

Why dont you or FH just talk to them and see what they would like to do....And work from there!! It definitely couldnt hurt to ask!!!

You could have them announced seperately (mog, then fog instead of 'parents og')

here is streatch, but could they suck it up to walk in together-..or are they really not into it. I would ask them what they want to do.

I like the idea of the the moms walk in together and then the dads walk in together.

One would think that divorced parents could 'suck it up' for one day and be civil with one another for the sake of their child's wedding.

As for the poster with the widowed FMIL - I had my Dad walk in with my niece, the FG. I didn't want him to walk in alone. You could also have your FMIL walk in with your parents, the three together.

My FMIL & FFIL are also divorced but we are inviting my FFIL's Girlfriend to the wedding. We decided that the parents aren't going to be walking into the reception, they are all going to be announced at the tables, and all they have to do is stand.

I would just ask them how they would like to be announced.

I might have to do the same.
My father is remarried but can barely walk. I wouldn't want my Mom to have to walk in alone and FH's parents are both deceased.

If my grandmother (93) is able to come then maybe I could have Mom and Gram come in together.

It's a tough call Jes. Good luck.
