ok so my wedding is in 10 days and we havent gotten our parents anything. and i am not sure if we are supposed to or what. is this a new trend or a tradition? not that i am not eternally grateful to both sets of parents for assisting us in paying for the wedding, but we are kind of strapped right now. do the parent albums count as a gift? will we be committing a major faux pas if we dont get them gifts? thanks!!

I don't think you HAVE to get the parents anything. I know a lot of people don't. I'm getting my parents something bc they spent a crap ton on the wedding. I don't think either parents are expecting anything, nor will they be insulted if you don't get them something, they understand. You're not having a rehearsal so it won't be awkward. If you want to get something, get something small. I'm paying for my mom's makeup and then getting her something small...prolly a gift certificate to liberty travel for her and my dad. I really don't want to get raf's family a gift, bc they've done NOTHING...but I kind of have to. Don't worry about it tho...either way, u're fine.

Wow, this is something I never even thought of.... I am thinking that maybe it is something we should do, since our parents have been very wonderful and generous throughout this process.
What do people typically do for this type of gift?

So funny you ask this. I couldn't think of what I wanted to get my parents that would be useful and I asked a couple of my girlfriends and none of them got their parents gifts. So no, def. not mandatory. I guess if you can it' nice.
I also had an idea of giving my parents a beautiful frame I saw; one side you put a pic when you were a little girl and the other side one of you on your wedding day. It's engraved w/ the date. This would be done after the wedding, to cut down on your b/f wedding costs.

we are not really doing parents gifts b/c my mom doesnt deserve anything , and FH and I had to buy his mom a dress to wear at the wedding. We also baught his parents a nice photo album...we will probably buy his dad something b/c he is the only one who doesnt get to keep his wedding day atire (he will be renting a tux)
