parent gifts

Hi ladies,
are you giving your parents gifts at teh rehearsal dinner? A few months ago, FH and I decided we were giving them the parent albums.... but now FH wants to give his parents somethign else.

I think that the parent albums are plenty. We have no money left! I guess FH thinks that isn't enough and/or he wants to have somethign to give them the night of the rehearsal.

Any advice?

A co-worker of mine said she sent both sets of parents a big bouquet of flowers (or you can do a plant or dessert of some sort) to arrive while they were away on their honeymooon, thanking them for everything.

This may be a cheaper and easier alternative then trying to come up with a great present for both sides. And it still shows your appreciation.

Re: parent gifts

I'm having the same dilema right now. We're doing parent albums for both sets of our parents (we're actually going to order them from mypublisher.com). I'm going to make up a nice certificate for each of them saying we'll help design it and pay for it (going to give it to them at the rehearsal dinner).

But I also think we should have a gift for each of them too, but I'm so stuck. Both sets are contributing a little to the wedding, but we're mostly paying for it ourselves, so I don't want to go too crazy and they wouldn't want us to either. I don't know what to do either!!! We're being pretty generous with our BP gifts, so we don't want it to seem weird to not get our parents more... UGH!! I'm stressing about this the most out of anything right now, and I'm running out of time

I'm going to be getting both of my parents precious moments. They have one with the bride and her mother and one with the bride and her father. I just thought they were so cute. I'm probably going to try to find something else for my dad as well, since he's probably not giong to be into a PM as much, lol.

That's what we did. But we had gotten folios instead. I don't think they deserved anything more either.

It's silly but I got my parents these embroidered hankies...There was this song that my Dad used to sing to me as a little girl so I had a few lines emboidered on it with a little sentiment that I wrote out also. Same for my mom. I dunno, I'm a little nerdy that way! After I spent all this money on it my friend told me that she saw similar items on ebay when she searched 'wedding handkerchiefs'. So anyway, I'm giving them that, and I plan to send them an edible arrangement after wards. They're so cool, like fruit that they cut into different shapes and arrange like flowers...They have a website too if you wanna check it out.

We ended up getting the parents (there are only 3) Hankercheifs. They came out really nice, ordered them online an not overly expensive.

I haven't decided yet...

My parents are paying for the bulk of the wedding, so I really want to get them something special. I'm torn between a weekend out east in Montauk, some cash in an envelope to go to Atlantic City (my mom hasn't gone since we got engaged because that's a dangerous place for her when she's trying to save money! - and that's a BIG sacrifice because she LOVES it! - and I can't just buy them rooms or dinner there because they get everything comped), a gift certificate for Ruth's Chris - their favorite restaurant, or $$ into their 'Italy' fund we have set up for them.

I'm also getting my mom a Mother of the Bride Precious Moments figurine and my dad a Willow Creek Father/Daughter figurine.

For my FH's mom, who is giving us the RD, I'll give her a frame with a card inside saying 'This will hold our wedding picture' - which is what she said she would like (she doesn't want an album).

The Precouis Moments idea might work! At least that's great for my mom- she has collected them forever.
Do you remember which store carried the mother/daughter and father/daughter one? I know some stores have more selection than others. Any in Suffolk?
THANKS!!!!!

Re: parent gifts

In addition to the parent albums, we gave them each a picture frame for our wedding picture and I also gave my parents the embroidered handkerchiefs.
