Re: Parent Gifts

since my parents paid for a good chunk of the wedding, we got them a big screen TV...but had to get it 2 months before the wedding, b/c their old one died and they were going to buy another one...at the RD we gave my mom a silver picture frame from fortunoffs and my dad Cuban cigars my MIL smuggled in from Mexico...

I got my FMIL a hanky and we are still unsure about what to get FFIL and my parents. We thought watches for the fathers but that gets kind of expensive and my Dad is a 'watch-a-holic' so that is also hard. I hope you get some good responses for ideas here!

Re: Parent Gifts

We gave our parents 'romantic relaxation' packages. Basically gift certificates for activities they enjoy. For my parents it was their favorite movie theater, Blockbuster, and Borders. My husband replaced the movie certificates with a liquor store. We figured that for all they did for us we should indulge them for a bit. I wanted to get their favorite restaurants too but since we live out of town we didn't have a chance...

Since my parents are basically paying for a HUGE chunk of the wedding, my FH and I would like to buy them something expensive as a 'thank you' ( I have no clue what to get them) Anyway-I also want to acknowledge my FH's parents, but don't want to spend a lot on them, because they are not helping with the wedding at all. Because of this, I shouldn't present them their gifts at RD, right?

Do you want a keepsake gift Diamondgirly? If so, maybe you can give them matching watching engraved with your wedding date on them.
For a non keepsake gift- a weekend at a B&B in Vermont this Fall. It is soooo beautiful.

diamond...we did the same as you wanted to do, but, of course, we did not give them the TV at the RD....I think its better that you don't...just to keep things nice....you may think of getting your parents a picture frame to open at the RD...so it looks like they got something...

I'm stumped on this too. I'm doing the Hankies for everyone, but my Dad has been my biggest support, unfortunatly he is IMPOSSIBLE to buy for. He doesnt use GC's(he thinks they're like coupons)he has no hobbies, the only thing I might be able to do is get him some unusual alcohol that he likes.
I think I'm just writing cards with an expression of thanks to everyone else w/ their hankies.
I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing also-great topic!

Re: Parent Gifts

What about getting your Dad the double sided frame- one side is a photo of you as a child, the other is for your wedding photo. Tiffanys sells really beautiful ones.
Or perhaps you and your DH can take your Dad out for a great meal and a show in NYC when you get home.

In addition to the album and/or pictures I got our parents a very nice, engraved DVD case from Exclusively Weddings for them to put their copy of the wedding video in.

Each mom is getting an exact copy of our wedding album, a copy of our wedding video, and a personalized keepsake wedding picture frame to give them at the Rehearsal dinner.
